I reckon nobody puts a tent up wrong, and knows that they did.....
Ohh, you`re so wrong there. I`ve got friends that have been camping for decades and they still slap up their tents in the most slovenly ways....."Can`t be bothered", "Not going to be windy anyway", "Ohh, you don`t really need half this stuff" etc etc. Even HUBBY has his moments of skiving if he thinks I`m not watching, and he`s always trying to invent ways of saving time by not doing things.
Fact is though, I`ve never lost a tent yet, and the only leaks and damage that have happened to them have been a result of either acts of God or some half-hearted pegging by my dear OH that I hadn`t spotted. And I`ve put up some cheap dodgy crap in my time, for other folk that have come camping with us.
Incidentally, if anyone reading this thread has bought a bargain basement tent, the one thing you can do easily to improve matters is to buy it some decent pegs.

What`s your budget, Neil? If you can run to £130, you could get a nice Vango Oregon 800 (like I did last weekend)....

...which would last you many years and stand up to most weather.
