Whats ecco matting?? not something I can see from a google search.  No point having the carpet if you cant chuck it in the washing machine to clean it.

a good clear floor and a good  sponge makes for a comfortable holiday, we already get laughed at for having a porta loo, liesure battery for running the lights and fridge. seems as you get a bit older and the family unit grows your ideas of ruffing it a thousand feet up the mountains tends to go out the window LOL.

eco-mat the breathable groundsheet that appears to be suitable for use as an interior carpet like material.  Looks interesting might have to check that our.

Justin, That's right most caravaners ues this stuff in awning. It's greats and lasts for years. The carpet will get dirty in no time and won't last that long. I should know i had one.

Hi to everyone - just got our Bear Lake 6, put it up in the garden, the front zip is way too tight when the tent is tensioned properly, there is about a 2inch gap either side of the zip.  If you move the poles in to rectify that problem the front of the tent obviously comes up higher and about an 8inch gap to the grass, so the groundsheet won't go in properly, I have phoned where I got the tent from and they are going to send a new one out for Friday and pick up the one I have.  I am sure it is the 2007 model as it has the mesh where the poles slide horizontal and comes with a temperature gauge and door mat.  One other thing, where the cable tidy is for the light there is no hook to hang the light from, just velcro straps for the cable.  Oh well, shame really but we'll have to wait and see what the next one is like.  Cheers, Paul & Steph

just got the new one see what this ones like

HOOORRRRAAYYYY

I got my replacement Bear Lake 6 today - Absolutely a different tent altogether, no zip problems, the stiching is better quality all round - well happy.  I'm very tempted to sleep out in it tonight with the kids, for them of course!!

Cheers Paul & Steph

Can't wait to hear about your first camp in you BL6. I would go for the carpet. It is very comfortable and makes the tent feel cozier and certainly warmer under foot. I have 2 children and a husband which calls for a mess. I'm new to camping in the UK and have only gone 3 times since July, but all trips were rain, mud, and wind and my carpet still looks new. It does have some proofing on it so a quick cleanup with spills will wipe off cleanly. If we get crumbs on it, we shake it out on the porch groundsheet and then into the trash. My youngest is 2! Also the carpet rolls up neatly and doesn't really take up a lot of space. It's also great when it's raining out and you really need some space for them to color or play.

Best wishes

Hi.

we put the tent up this afternoon and I have to say that it is very nice, I found it a little tricky putting it up as I had to pull the canvas over to one side on each aluninium pole, the floor has a ripple in it even though I feel I have put the correct tension throughout, and I fear the tent has got the dreaded door problem as its tight as hell to zip up, and this is before the canvas has been shrunk by the rain. I would also say the side windows are poorly designed as even when closed up they appear to be vulnerable to winds blowing under and into the living space.

the tent is very spacious and also much better for viewing any surrounding areas, and I'm off back there now with the kids for what I think will be a cold night.

will put a photo up when I get back.

cheers.

Hi its the bl 6 for me ,any advice on the door even the one on display there was no way that it would close up without a struggle(about 100 mm gap).I spoke to the salesman who said it was because the tent had weathered but the door being under the front canopy had remained dry and not weathered the same, is this correct?
I think for the amount the tent costs it should be pretty well perfect or is this a general flaw

ray o sunshine, the door on mine is tight and its not been weathered, not sure if it is a problem as such as it might loosen up with use???

we only stayed the one night at the liesure lakes but I have to say that the tent was great, the head height was better than I imagined it would be, and the whole thing was very cosy, I did find it to be slightly drafty but that may just be that we dont normaly camp this time of year. putting it up was a little tricky but we tend to take our time, more so on a new tent, both my wife and I can be heavy handed and accidents can happen. taking it down was a real doddle, but it will take some practise folding the canvas due to the shape of it. I would truthfully say that the only thing that I will miss from the aspen 700 is its 3rd room for the toilet and accessories and also the fact that I could store all the kitchen equipment in the porch and away from the living area, this is the one thing that might make me budge slightly more in favour of the aspen. I love the amount of huge windows in the BL6, shame vango could'nt make an aspen with the same material and better ground sheet, better bigger windows, there would'nt be any doubt which one I would prefere then LOL
