Hi, I have a Gelert, purchased on budget/space/transport requirements. Its ok, has some nice features and some bad points (poles). Its our first tent so nothing to really compare it to. We know now what it it we want from a tent and although this is ok I don't know if a Gelert will tick all the boxes when we buy another in a couple of years.

Look for the well known names: Outwell, Khyam, Vango, Cabanon etc avoid Argos and Halfords tents! Have a look at the tent reviews on here for some ideas. Best to look at some up if there's a tent exhibition around you to get a feel for them.

Good luck with your search!

Andi
i can definately vouch for the argos tents....absolute crap!!

Hi - I see its your first post so welcome to UKCS.

A few more well know makes are Coleman,  Royal  and Wynnster. As Andi said there are lots of displays around at the moment and you can only really get a feel for a tent once you've seen it up.

Avoid buying cheap new tents off of ebay as there has been a few disaster stories on here. You can pick up some good 2nd hand bargains on there though just make sure you stick to the well known makes.

The tent review section of this site is also an excellent resource to get feedback from actual users.

Good luck with your search

lol this is bad but i can also vouch for the ebay specials..£100 for a dome used twice then binned, still have all the guys as spare probably worked out £5.00 each!!
