I still like my 400 despite its failings. I doubt its long term life though 18 months old and been through 4 replacemen poles already they cant handle gales!

Mine handled quite a severe gale, I parked the car behind the tent to help deflect the wind and also a nearby hedge helped. I've had some fairly rough windy weather too, not least this past weekend when all the gazebo's on site ended up diamond shaped....so I now have faith in this tent in adverse weather conditions.
I've been reading quite a few threads on here tonight about the weekends severe weather and a fair few have said their Icarus' survived and after some of the horror stories of the last 24 hours i'm happy with that!

Not long since got back from Moffat C & CC site with our Icarus and had a fantastic time. I agree with all the comments made about the canopy (it's a great addition to the living space and a really useful area), I just wish that there was a mesh inner on the front as well as on the side as we were inundated with wasps. Other than that I think the whole family is pleased with the tent. My daughter calls ours Percy by the way.

My friends - who were also camping with us - swore that it made a difference. I don't agree. Some of the blighters even landed on it and had a rest before coming back to attack some more.
Could'nt agree more!
I haven't seen a wasp all summer in my back garden, but we did see one or two "fly bye's" on holiday in devon, despite the waspinator hung from the gazebo.
......... I'm thinking the wasp's in devon might just be a bit harder

we have an icarus 600, when away last week with it for the first time and we love it. Lods of space, didn't leak, and stood up very well in the strong wind, got the canopy with it but could not put it up because of the weather, would recomend.
I heard somewhere that the Icarus performs better when side into the wind, instead of bum into the wind. I'm not sure though, so prefer to stick to bum into the wind(he he)...that is when you can determine where the wind is and where it's going to be!!
A couple of weekends ago, because of pitching space available there was no choice but to face the tent into the wind, and that's a big no no. The door was concave, although the bottom flap was still outside not pushed in. I had to adjust the sliders on the front guys a few times, but all in all - I think Iccy did well. No harm done to the tent and luckily no ingress of water either.

Hi - great to hear all this positive feedback on the Icarus - I've just bought a 600, plus a carpet (never intended to have a carpet in a tent, but hubby is not keen on camping and I thought it might ease it a bit for him!) and a canopy. Waiting for a dry weekend to have a practice pitch in the garden. By the way, I chose the blue because I thought it was lovely! I wasn't keen on the green at all....
Can't wait for next year to try it out properly - does anyone else spend ages looking through all the campsites all over UK planning next year's trips? I've never been to Scotland and would love to head up there with the kids. We are also going to do the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Brands Hatch Masters GRand Prix - to keep hubby happy! I'd love to do the National Feast of Lanterns, and I remember that from my childhood.
Only got to use our 500 once this year. Although hoping to get away again before the end of the year..I loved the tent with canopy, had a lot of room. Easy to put up and down.
