Oooh Leeboy that was lucky! I wonder if you bagged the last one..? SJP, call both shops (see my other post) and see if they can help. If Camperite are the only one with stock see if they are open to offers...

Mucker and others,
just back from three weeks in Southern France with a Filey 6, and loved it. The Polyester pole version not the Air. Two of us sleeping but four eating and storing stuff. Seems to me to be critical how you pitch it if you want flat groundsheet etc. Need to spend time with the tent to sort this out. each time we pitch, we seem to improve but the Filey defo likes a level pitch.
Problem we have , most times we've pitched, is getting the Annex thingy bit of groundsheet to be even vaguely flat. Mucker, if we had heavy furniture to place and flatten it, there was a real risk of damaging the groundsheet, it was so high of the deck at the two inner corners A(Apologies for no pics - will go off and learn how to post them).

Very pleased with the tent, and certainly recommend it and I'm sure the Classic is a better version. But we have some minor frustrations;
1) the porch yellow tape and groundsheet is a real trip hazard, especially after a bottle or two. Maybe eyelets and say, three more pegs would help this? We use the dome headed, feet friendly groundsheet pegs
2)Getting the tent centred on the footprint takes time and expereince - get it wrong and then you have all the rain running off the tent onto the exposed footprint, between SIG and footprint. Not an issue usually but I don't like the idea of a lot of water trapped which can't get out.
3)the carpet is a cheap woven thing and snags very easily. The carpet in a friends Outwell Hartford was much better quality, and getting a similar sized Outwell one would be an improvement for the Filey.
4) not many internal hanging points, but we improvise with cord
5) Almost impossible to keep the carpet reasonably taut and level and like others, I planned to use velcro at the corners to sort this, but this won't work well unless you have your groundsheet pretty flat. Brought the velcro home for another day - or it was too hot; can't remember which

But these are only minor points; we're really pleased with ours. The only other tent I would consider is something like a Frinton, for short pitches - weekends etc. The Filey for three weeks in France was superb, The big internal space is great for dinners for up to eight in the rain; we coped with strong winds hitting the porch and doors, by placing two extra guys, with Delta anchors.

For anyone thinking of this tent, there are great deals around on the pole versions, Classic or polyester. But I wouldn't bother with the vestibule - found that two shoe lockers are more useful !!!

Just a word of caution...the new Outwell carpets for some tents are awful. I purchased a new carpet for the Nevada M last year, was so horrified when I got it (bought on Internet) I sent it back. Not sure if they are similar this year...?

We too  have just returned from 3 weeks in France with our Filey Classic.

some points we learned.

This is a fantastic tent survived the storm /mini hurricane (would have done really well if my hubby had actually putin more than 6 pegs)

Any tent gets hot in 35 plus .

When the weather is so good you spend very little time in the tent and so could have managed with a smaller tent for the 3 of us.

Although the carpet looks cheaper than Outwell ones we have had it did not slip around our tent and when we ate in the tent  on the one occastion as there was a storm raging outside we found out to our delight, that when red wine is spilt on the carpet it seemed water /wine proof and we were able to mop it up without it leaving any trace.

We could not find any where to hang a light up in the bedroom pod .but improvised with a bungie and cord. we had not pre soaked the tent ,but it did not lee kand was definatley proofed by the heavy rain.

usiung a small ground sheet under wardrobe area wopuld have aided packing as had to let mud dry off before packing.altough it did not take long in the heat.

we were supposed to vacate our pitch by11am ,but due to allowing canvas to dry left at 12miday.may consider taking a small overnight tent to allow packing the evening before.

All in all this is a great tent.

Where the hell's my post gone from last night? Forgot what I put now, (it was long winded, as per!!) but QuiteconTent... I did reply!!

Anyways....

Ice Pop,

More than 6 pegs would be good, yes!!

We have a couple of rings on the back wall of the bedroom (one either side of the divider, which we have rolled back anyway). We hang light at night, and combine it with an S hook to hang the top of the sleeping bag up in the morning, to air it out.
As we have the divider rolled back, we also have the option of an S hook/light combo on the tie back things (one about level with out pillow (on camp beds) and one about head height (when standing). Works for us!

We didn't get away until 1:30 on Sunday... we need to up our game when departing France next month!!!

Thanks  Mucker. I think we did use one of those ringsto put the bungie through.

The pitch that we had was one that came with own loo, fridge.kitchen sink etc so the owners like to clean them and cut the grass ready for the next booking. Maybe other sites allow you to leave  later. As thereis such a long distance to cover I would have prefered an earlier start.

I am sure you will have a fab time in France with big Brenda.

We went in the Croyde 8 at a local camping shop and thought it was great, really big inside and believe its the same as the 6 but has the bed pod at the front ? Was almost tempted, but opted for the polycotton filey ! :-) enjoy :-)

Have retried our vestibule, and even though I followed the instructions it still fell down at the top !... After a simple mod, self-adhesive velcro stuck full length of pole sleeve, and vestibule tension band sleeve I was able to stick the top section together, among with the tension band etc... so far so good, and feels very secure. Because the sleeve isn't cotton but polyester the adhesive sticks to it rather well ! Only concern is wet weather, will it unstick ? Even if it's protected by the elasticated cover.

We managed to locate a vestibule for the Filey 6 Classic from Caseys Outdoor Leisure, £132.95, a bit more than we wanted to pay but it was the only one we could find ....
