Hi. Thanks for posting, and no I haven't sadly. They've either been too expensive or been sold to others so still looking..and hoping!

Well I don't know if my tent would be of any use to you. Being steel poled it is heavy, but it is well made and spacious. As previously mentioned my daughter is now of the age where camping with mum and dad is a definite no-no.

As well as the base tent, we have two sleeping pods, a footprint ground sheet and an additional awning.

Up till now we had not considered selling it, but, to be honest it won't get used by us again.

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

Hi,

Have you looked at the Vango Maritsa 500, and is it something that you think would fit your needs if the price was right?

We have one, absolutely love it and it has coped with some pretty bad weather without any issues. However, we have decided to buy an inflatable tent this year, so we will be looking to sell our Maritsa complete with carpet and footprint.

Let me know if you think it would be of interest to you 😊

Kyham tents are not ones I know much about. Had a look at the reviews on this site and I think it might be rather heavy for me and my 11 year old to put up. What is your experience? Mind you, I think that's going to be the same whichever steel poled tent we have (if we find one we can afford, that is!).

A few things have become clear(er) since having our Nevada and looking through the various views and reviews of other (steel poled) tents on here about what we need/like in a tent:-
    An enclosed outdoor area (porch) big enough to for a table and chairs and cooking equipment is a must for us. We had the front extension and my daughter loved being 'outside' but under shelter (she can't get too hot);

    The large and numerous windows on the Nevada and its front extension meant we/she never felt 'enclosed', even in bad weather, so a large number of windows is another highly desirable for us;

    An integral mesh panel on each door on the Nevada was a real help in keeping the tent both cool and bug free. Being able to have all the door 'open but closed' to allow through ventilation is def. a must for us.

I do understand that 'beggars cannot be choosers'and that we'll have to compromise on a few things but I'd really rather not, if at all possible, on those listed above.

Cheers

Hi Kate

Thanks very much for posting - really do appreciate it.

Don't know this tent at all so had a quick look at the review on this site. Do you think it fits the bill (yes, I do know nothing will fit the bill exactly!) in terms of what I've posted above in terms of windows/light, mesh panels on doors etc? I can't really tell from the photos posted. It doesn't seem to have as many windows as the Nevada M but that may just be the pics. As someone who's got one and used it a lot, I'd really value your honest assessment. I really can't afford to get the 'wron'g tent.

Cheers

Hi,

Ok, honest answers to your questions above...

The Maritsa has an integral porch - we use this as our kitchen area and it also gives us somewhere to sit if it's a bit breezy but we still want to feel like we're outside! You could have your table in here if you were cooking outside and the front door opens the full width of the porch so it does feel nice and airy.

Windows - the windows are not as big as the ones in the Nevada, but there are plenty of them and one of the reasons we liked the Maritsa so much was because it was nice and light inside. The one we have is the green one - I found the blue one felt smaller because of the darker colour.

Ventilation wise, I think it's great. You have the door on the porch which doesn't have mesh but you then have three more doors, one between the porch and the living area, and one either side of the living area all of which have full insect mesh so you can get a nice breeze through without any bugs!

I loved the Nevada when we first looked at tents, but hubby was insistent that we went for steel poles as he really wasn't sure about the whole camping thing! I felt the Maritsa gave us a lot of the things we loved about the Nevada - light, airy and spacious, with the added benefit of steel poles and the porch.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like and I will answer them honestly - as you say, you need to make sure that the tent you buy ticks as many boxes as possible 😊

My instinctive response is that a Khyam Rigipod would be far too heavy.
