It's a very personal choice in the end, but full mesh doors on all entrances are a high priority for me because of the armies of midges and mozzies that can so spoil my enjoyment of the great outdoors. And the fully sealable doors with the high lip also exclude bugs very well!

I think the front mesh is very important to me and that's why I've bought a Vango Eden rather than an Outwell Concorde. Collect it on Wednesday and hope to try it out soon.

Happy to hear you've made your choice A900ss...I'm sure you'll be delighted with it. Don't forget to let us know how you get on, as I get where you're coming from re the mesh front door.

Just in case anyone continues to read this thread, the Concorde does have a bathtub style entrance, it just needs to be unclipped from the sides and it will lie flat...saves tripping :)

Also the side doors can be opened from the inside...you just unzip each side & roll up with the mesh, then undo the velcro tabs at the bottom, and roll up the second door. You might have to lean out a little bit if you're short like me

I know nothing about airbeam tents, other than they are very expensive! but having read this thread, just wondered if you went for the 5 berth or 6 berth, I would have gone for the 6 berth without doubt, simply because if there is a possibility of your wife and dog coming along sometimes, two adults, two kids and dog would probably need that extra space.

Also, I know from experience that kids have an annoying habit of growing, rather rapidly, and the tent that seemed fine when they were junior school age suddenly becomes a heck of a lot smaller when they get to senior school age!

Just a thought.

I didn't go for the 5 or 6 berth, I went for the Eden 400 4 berth.

It's a perfect size for weekends away, whole family and dog or just me and the kids.

It's also a manageable size and weight (44kgs) for solo pitching. If I'd have gone for the 6 berth, it weighs over 65 kgs so it wouldn't have been fun solo pitching and ultimately that would mean I would do less camping with it.

PS- when the kids get old enough to need a larger tent , they'll be old enough to help pitch it, so I can get a bigger tent then.

Glad you found something that suited you, as I said I know nothing about the airbeam tents, so thought as you didn't have all the pole threading and pegging to do that the weight would not be so much of an issue once the tent is out of the car, but the extra space would be welcome.

You're right that the kids can help, mine all did from a very young age!

Enjoy your new tent

we `re a family of 3. i`d go with a 5 berth. we have just bought the vango icarus 500. quick pich, easy. the first time took longer as we had to clip in the bedroom section. but we have left that in , so its up in minuites now.

totally agree add 2 at least to the amount of people going to use it

As for weight relevance between air/poles, my corvette XL weighs in at 36kg and the old royal Cuban 6 with poles 57kg. Same size tent.
