Rage Tromso Deluxe 8 man tent Review Bought this tent off an ebay seller and not knowing alot about camping being a first time camper was dissapointed. On erection two of the main pegging out ring to tent straps came away due to poor stitching, overall stitching was poor quality. The overall tent size was great and there was plenty of room, but there was a lack of ventalition and the tent got very hot, the orange piping on the tent attracted the insects in their swarms. The tent material was thin and on chatting with others about this tent i found it only had a HH of 1500, this was stated on the ebayers sale page, but being new to camping didnt mean anything to me until now. We had no rain so i can not say what it is like in the rain or wind... Overall i am dissapointed with this tent and plan to buy a decent make one asap and use this as a backup... out of 10 id give this tent a 5 and would not recommend it...

I've just lost this weekends camping in Newquay because of this damn awful excuse for a tent! My OH can ill afford £150 but she liked the look of it on the ebay page. I will be looking at getting a full refund for her, using Consumer Direct if necessary. We had used a Eurohike Family or a borrowed Outwell Montana until now.
When it arrived I was worried because of the flimsy bag it came in - the handles were thin and weak feeling and the clippable straps hardly reached across when it was factory-packed let alone when we'ds had a peek. The bag wouldn't have lasted any time at all. I noticed the guylines seemed a little thin then too. On arriving on site this afternoon I got the boys to start assembling the poles and about 2 minutes later they said "It's come apart"! The shock-line had snapped and it took about half an hour to laboriously re-thread it, making me irritable from the get-go.
The more of the tent I touched as we put it up the less I liked what I was seeing. The poles were the shoddiest pieces I'd ever seen, the fibreglass already splitting and with metal burrs that would catch the fabric. The worst bits were the pole anchor pins, which just didn't hold the poles very well at all and the bedroom external vents, which were dreadful compared to the Outwell, no decent closure options to speak of.
I hadn't realised the Tromso came with a separate living area groundsheet, in the end we never bothered laying it down because we'd run out of pegs by then. As many on this thread have said the instructions are poor but just about usable. The bedroom pods were just a joke when we put them up, the just hung like cheap supermarket carrier bags whatever we did to stretch them out.
The worst thing was the height, it seems huge from the pictures on ebay and from outside but I could only stand straight right at the very centre of the living space (I'm 6 ft 1, but didn't have any problem in the Montana).
My OH and I fell out in a big way, she thinks I blame her for buying a c*&p tent and wasting money, I was just annoyed that we were silly enough to be conned into buying this very very poor quality tent. In the end I told her I just wasn't interested in sleeping even one night in this tent and we packed and drove home, mostly in silence. the kids are upset, my OH and I aren't talking and all because of a stupid tent.
