we are a family of 4 3 adults me the man the wife (wheelchair user) and my wifes mother and then there is our ten year old. so we need a good sized tent for all our gear this is mostly tables and storage that is at the right hight for my wife to reach. then there is the wheelchair which is electrical so need EHU.
at the moment we have a michigan L 2009 but with all of us we are very pushed for space but we like the vis-a-vis model of the michigan so now we have found the maryland XL. just none of the dealers that are near us stock, supply or has it on display. also they wont setup the tent unless we agree to buy it from them for if they order one they dont wont to be stuck with it.
so could anyone tell me what they think about us getting a maryland?
p.s. is there any one in inverness that has a maryland that we could have a look at?
Well if you like the vis-a-vis look the Maryland will certainly give you alot of space, the living area is really big and you have 2 bedroom options on each side...or 2 big ones if you prefer....
I do not know if you have read all this thread....but if it is big space and lots of rooms then this tent is good...although you have no porch area and it does get quite warm in the sun....if you have a utility tent then you also have the porch free for entrance and the whole of the lounge..
It would def be better to view one if possible and anyway to see it up before you buy it because of the corner issues....
Sorry I meant no canopy area...so you have the opportunity to have the door open without the rain coming in.....no there is a front porch...sorry to confuse!!!
We have got the Maryland XL and are overjoyed with it. We are a family of six and upgraded from an Outwell Colorado 8 back in 2009 after looking around for 2 years trying to find a tent to fit our needs. It has a great large central area and a large porch area which could possibly be used for cooking at the front. We have had an Outwell universal canopy over the back door which we used for cooking freeing up the front porch area for storage and using as the main entrance. we go away for a month at a time and have found that it withstands the worst of the British weather and the kids have plenty of room to relax when stuck inside.
Great tent, would recommend it

Just recently bought a Marland XL with carpet, foot print and front extension, and am over joyed with it. Just wondered though if there is a sun canopy that i can buy that would fit over the back door - i have seen a sun canopy for a Outwell Glendale - its called a "Outwell Glendale Side Extension", and looking at the size of looks like it would fit nicely and matches the colour of the tent. Does anyone know if this fits or recommend one that does?
hi guys i am considering buying the maryland tent theres me and my husband my 3 children aged 3..5 and 6yrs old im thinking me the hubby and the youngest child in one bedroom, my 5 and six year old next door and the other two rooms as a bathroom and dressing room with a kitchen in the outer area and lots of living space is this tent fully enclosed so no draughts and would you recommend for what im looking for also any ideas wheres the cheapest place to buy this item.......
Just though I'd update and say this is our 5th year with this tent and 9th time of using. It's still amazing and perfect in any weather. We have waterproofed it again with sprays but that's normal. It's perfect and it will take a similar air tent for me to part with the Maryland. Until that happens I will stay with this one. No rips, and everything still works the same as it did 5 years ago. Perfect.
------------- hope you have a brill time on your hols
