The label is in french so mayby it was never sold over here? I was expecting a 23 yr old tent to smell a bit musty but its exectly as the chap desicbed it it even smells brand new like the day it left the factory.
One question though how do you fit a sun canopy?? does it go over the front of the tent or under the apex?, if it went over the front does it tie onto the plastic d rings on the outside of the tent?
Oh another question when pegging it down do you use just the rubbers as there is a rubber band and a plastic d ring. does the peg go through the rubbber band and the d ring hook onto the little tooth of the peg?
Im sure ill have a few other questions about canvas tents
The little plastic 'D' rings are for easy attachment of new rubbers when they're needed. You just peg through the rubbers.
The canopy may be a bit tricky. Most Cabanons have a flat ended stub canopy - your new baby seems to have a finishing 'frill' (for want of a better word) which comes down a couple of inches from the edge of the stub canopy. With our Cabanons, you thread the tapes of the canopy through the three holes where the poles come out of, and tie them around the main tent poles, and the straight edge stub canopy lies on top of the added sun canopy. However, ours haven't got 'D' rings on the outside of the tent (well, not up there anyway!), so your Cabanon may have these fitted especially to tie a canopy to. I don't know, just guessing

Delighted for you that the tent has lived up to your hopes and expectations. I'm quite amused by the Cabanon experts on here as this one has flumoxed many!
As i said in an earlier post, the colours of your tent are consistent with the colours used on some Conway models from the 80's even to the stripey trim above the window. On the trailer tent awnings that had the same style of stub porch on the front as your tent (Same sort of detail, alternating colours, tapered sides and neat contrasting tape edge) there were D rings - probably 3 - on the roof for attaching the sun canopy. The sun canopy should have corrosponding ties to do the job. As said by others, the D rings on the bottom of the tent are not for pegging through but are there so that if/when you need to replace a rubber you can loop it through the ring.
My guess is that as this has been in storage for such a long time it will need to be given at least one good soaking to allow the fibres of the fabric to swell up again to make it fully watertight.
Hi. I do have a Noumea and its a teeny weeny two person pyramide tent!
So I guess either Cabanon have used the name Noumea more than once or bags got muddled somewhere along the line. I think its more likely the name has been used twice.
Looking at that label, that's an old Cabanon logo. I did know how long it is since it was discontinued but have forgotten, but its in the region of 25 years since Cabanon stopped using it - even though your tent looks pretty well as new.
As others have said, I guess yours was either a non-UK model or a limited run prototype. Another example of a limited run tent would be the Montreal, which has a completely atypical design for a Cabanon even down to which way the mudflaps turn.
Enjoy your tent.

Anne, thanks for the advice on the canopy, it does make sense as there are 3 ties to connect with the 3 d rings on top of the tent ill have another go later the Sun canopy had never been used before not even un-folded.
Thanks for all the advice on pegging too.
Going to give it a soaking with the hose tonight so it should be watertight for when we go camping at the start of june.
Even though its 23yrs old i looks, feels and smells so much nicer that our Icarus 500 we got new last year.
I`m not a cabanon expert, but am pleased to be proved wrong. Its in excelent nick for such and old lady.
I have an "atypical" cabanon too ( although mine does have a logo on it)...nice to be different.
When`s your maiden voyage?
