Dozy, when I first looked at your pics, I obviously noticed that two of the pics are lying on their side (!!!).
"Dozy by name....." I laughed to myself! "... But not the end of the world", I proclaimed.
I then proceeded to tilt my lap top screen 90deg, and the full glory of the pics were clearly evident. Why, If memory serves, I even took trouble to thank you for posting them.

HOWEVER.....

Getting excited about going away tomorrow in our new tent, last night, I decided to take another look at your pics, but this time, I was using Muckerette's viewing equipment.....

HAVE YOU TRIED CHASING A PICTURE AROUND 90DEG ON A BLOODY I-PAD!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I wonder is the right person called Dozy - I have tried to chase pics round my i phone , but then I stopped and remembered I have a neck and can change position of that whilst keeping i phone still......

Enjoy your trip in your new Frinton- sure you will.

I'm going away next weekend , won't be using the Frinton (although I would like to ) as it will not be big anough for the 4 of us - taking the trailer tent this time. Possibly for the last time as I think I will be selling it.

Remember to take photos !!!  Mine (on the side) are not on their side on photobucket or my PC , turned on side being uploaded to here?????

Just a few pics to whet your appetite!

Suffice to say, for now, yet another Kampa gets a thumbs up. Bit busy, but there will be a full review, and more pics, in the next day or so. And it will be favourable!

This is Freddie, our brand spanking one/two nighter, and perfectly compliments his big sister, Brenda, The Filey 6 Classic, which we will use for 3 nights or more.
It was blowing a gale when pitching, so it took a while, but once up, he behaved impeccably!! Wind, rain and frost(!!!)..... he kept us sheltered from the lot!!

We love polycotton, we love the colour, we love the layout, and we absolutely adore Kampa!

For those who haven't been following this thread, this is the Kampa Frinton 4 Classic..... without the canopy...... but the right way round!!!

These pics, and our own personal satisfaction, are dedicated to all who helped, advised, and bullied, and in particular to Dozy and Mcguire.

A Big thank you from us both.

Hi,
I am Zsuzsi from Hungary. In the near past I have bought a Kampa Frinton 4 Classic and a Kampa Minnis 4.
I would like to ask you something.
Really I have two problems.
1, the size of the Minnis bedrooms are 14x210 in the product description, but! when I have pitched the tent and put in the double airbed (137x190) into the bedroom, I realised that I cannot close the zipp totaly. After this action I measured the real size of the bedroom, and it is only 126x203 cm

hm, from you have anyone met with similar situation?
2, my second problem is that, Kampa has not answered for my letter, after a week. furthermor the distributore neither. I bought it from UK directly.
Frinton Classic 4 has the same size on paper, and it is exactly in really too, no problem with double airbed, but it seems Minnis is too little for this size of airbeds.
Please help me with advice if you can.
thanks
Zsuzsi

hello zsuzsi

i have a kampa minnis4 and i find the tent much more practical if i dont use the bedroom inner tents. i put the double bed long - ways at one end of the tent and ok, it comes a little into the living area, but there is still lots of space around the tent to move around in and sit inside if the weather outside is bad.

the inner tent only keeps the living area more tidy looking, it cannot keep heat in as its only a thin material and i dont mind seeing the bed area when i go into the tent.

after all, it is a tent, not a show - house for a new apartment! lol.

Maybe, but last time I used my Minnis 4 it was without the bedrooms, and though it increased the living space I would have preferred my bed to have been in one of the inners as it's much more cosy. Fwiw, I use two single camp beds put together with a 4ins thick mattress on top and full bedding and I can still zip up the inner completely with no problem.

The inner has a few uses, one is to keep any draughts away that might get in by the main tent door. The second and most important reason for using an inner is condensation. Condensation can build up on the inside of the flysheet and when the wind blows it will drop on to anyone who is sleeping in the tent not in an inner tent. If you use the inner tent drops can fall onto the inner tent, then soak into the inner then evaporate away again. Thirdly if you are not to keen on bugs (like me) the inner is great at keeping bugs, flying and crawling, away from you while you sleep.

Hi dear All,
Thanks very much for your answer.
It seems I have found the solution, I have bought two other airbeds, Intex, and, it is very interesting because on paper these are bigger then my outwell airbeds, but however after pump out intex is smaller, only a little, but it seems to be enough to fit into the inner tent. dispute of this the size of the inner tent is smaller than Kampa wrote on his tent description.
We have two children so we will use both inner tents, so finally problem solved.
But then what is interesting for me, distressing exactly that no answer arrived yet from Kampa, from two weeks now.
The main reason why we choosed Kampa was that, we heard, and read on forums and feedbacks that their customer service is very good, and kind. I have resent my letter more times to them, but nothing. It frighten me because we are a bit far from UK, and in case of any later problem, how can I contact wiht them for example. hm.
The Frinton 4 is from Camping world and they are very helpful in case of any little question, or help, but the Minnis was bought from Outdoor megastore, and during the order they were helpful, but in case of this problem no answer arrived neither from them.
Zsuzsi

what could I do?

Please remember that Kampa have no contract with you, you should always deal with the retailer who supplied the tent. As for the size of the inner tent against the size in the Kampa drawings being different, this is not un-common for any brand of tent, these things happen, un helpfull yes but this is why it is always best to buy a tent from your local camping store where you can see the tent up. Im not saying you did anything wrong really but I think my advise in the light of things makes sense.

I would also say by purchasing a tent from the UK when you live in Hungary is not a great idea. A tent is not like an ipad where you get a world wide warranty and you can then take it to any Kampa stockist etc, I doubt Kampa have any retailers/stockists in Hungary. I would think you saved some money by purchasing your tent in the UK but in the long run I think you should support your local camping store or at least one in your own country, that way if you have any problems it would be easier to sort out.

Can I ask what it is you are wanting Kampa to do...? The tent was discontinued some time ago, the inners are the size you have.

I am glad you have sorted the bed problem now, enjoy your camping.

Gary, you're right of course to support local retailers, but there is a lot less family camping around here. (Don't know why...) When I searched for a tent, I couldn't find a new family sized cotton or poly-cotton tent anywhere in Hungary :(

In our town, we have one outdoor activities shop where they pulled a large polyester bag off a shelf and said that one was the only 5/6 person tent they had. No chance of seeing it erected. 250 GBP.

Zsuzsi, I'm very new to camping in Hungary and the area. Would you post any recommendations you've got about sites / shops in Caravanning and Camping Abroad Forum? Thanks in advance!

Hi Gary,
You are right with that opinion to buy this kind of product in local store is better (But - this by way of digression - I am not sure, I could realise the real size of the inner tent if I saw the tent pitched, without walking with a tape-measure, and measure it.)
In Hungary really there is not similar camping store like in the UK.
Really there is not variety of supply from this kind of tents, Decathlon chain is the only one, but they have not got this high quality. I would have been the happiest to have the possibility to buy any camping equipments here, so that is the reason why I have found this way to buy my excellent quality, family tent:-)
Honestly I like to order anything from the UK, because the posting is extremly exact, and the dealers are very helpful, and correct, and furthermore the quality of the products have very good.(I love UK )
AAAnd finally good news (for me), Kampa and Outdoor megastore answered for my letters . I will share the sequel here, if there will be.

Hi Iains I am very happy to see another one from Hungary on the forum
I can recommend for you with warm heart Campingworld, they are very correct, and nice with fast shipping, and kindnes. Outdoor megastore is correct too, fast shipping, fast reaction for the orders.
Cheers,
Zsuzsi
