We have got the Wolf Lake 5 and I wouldn't fancy getting that up in our roof box either.

All our clothes and bulky stuff gets shoved in the roof box, all the heavy stuff in the S-Max.

We had bear lake 6 for years. Lovely tent, but it has some massive drawbacks maily weight and time to erect. Now have a vango evogue airbeam (not poly cotton). much lighter and put up in a fraction of the time. We decided we wanted to spend more time enjoying our holiday and not losing a whole day erecting tents etc.

My personal view.

Takes my wife and I less than 20 mins to get the Wolf Lake poles in and up. The next 100 mins is getting it guyed out and all our stuff out of the car and into the tent.

So about 15% of the time putting it up, this would be 10% with an airbeam, personally I would much rather have a polycotton tent than a polyester airbeam for the same sort of price.

But that's me, and it's good that we are all different

Oh, and I'd still put the tent in the car

So agree, setting up our tent involves:
1. Moving the footprint around pitch - heated discussion about where exactly to put tent. Normally involves lying on footprint to check head higher than feet when asleep
2. Laying out tent and pegging corners
3. Threading through poles and getting tent up
4. Shouting at children to get out of the car and help
5. Pegging out
6. Unpacking car, setting everything up, inflating furniture, beds, etc.etc.

Out of all these activities actually threading the poles through and getting the tent up takes the least time.

I think there's a bit of a misconception about the advantage of an air beam tent. In my opinion the biggest advantage is not speed it's the fact that pitching is a true 1 person job no matter how big the tent is, especially if you use an electric pump

And where's the fun in not having the first argument of the holiday?

Agree with Mike, fire up plenty of pics of your adventure for us to ogle at, also for the likes of me to have a good look at the new shaped tent..

Have a great holiday

Re the bags, are the old model and new model packaged differently??

Back from first trip with BL6, have put a thread up in the Trips & Pics section (Gorges du Tarn, France).
