Hi Tynxuk

I've just put mine up in the garden, lovely tent. I measured the distance between the front poles as 195cm.

Thanks Neggy, I've squirrelled the money away since before Christmas and managed not to order one yet! Christmas decorations are now down and just need to sort out storage then I can get all excited about ordering one.

Hi, i have just made a seperate thread on this but i thought id ask more specifics here.

my other thread

We are very interested in the alaska and will most likely be buying one this weekend, but we have a few concerns.

The main being the weight of the tent and how that would limit our options when in comes to short stay holidays. While we will be using the tent for week long trips we would still like to be able to have the odd night or two away over the weekend. Is the weight going to be a problem for these trips? (We have only had small nylon tents before)

The other concern is the quality compared to other dutch tents, not so much the canvas but the zips and so on.

Any input on this would be appreciated

Chris

We use our Palamos 6 for weekend breaks; just take less paraphernalia :)

Weekend breaks are down to how fast the tent can be put up and taken down... About 40 minutes for us; no worse than our Sunncamp.

Takes 15 minutes to pitch the Alaska, the weight isn't an issue once you've separated tent from poles, I can lug it around myself. It's a great tent and the quality is fine (not quite the same as my De Waard or Esvo but will last years all the same).

hmm, some how I'm still sitting on my money for this my biggest concern is getting the middle A frame spikes through the fabric, would I be able to use two king poles with a ridge pole instead? it's the stretching of material on the palamos I can't do and worry I will have the same issue with the Alaska.

Took delivery of Alaska last week. Still waiting for the weather to break for the better before test pitch. Will let you know how easy `A` Frame is to do solo.
As regards to weight, yes it is heavy. I have taken the Inner out of the bag(3kgs) and weighed the tent and mine is just over 26kgs. A bit heavier than my Eldorado.
It's not so much the weight but the awkwardness of the bag (about 1mtr long). Could do with handles both sides for ease of lifting.
Hope the weekend stays dry for test pitch.

look forward to hearing about it , I have already bought one of these as we had similar issues with the palamos bag so have a green vango one for that (didn't want to get them mixed up and the black is cheaper). Now just need that Euro to get weaker again as it's gone up 8p since November which is nearly £50 more for the tent now
