Wouldn't you just know it; had a quick look at the sketches, chose the one which most appealed, checked the price list and....it's the most expensive!

Typical!

The most expensive one is the Vergrote Zilvermeeuw. I don't think you will find that most appealing..

But an average new De Waard will cost you 2000 - 2300 euro with options included. Therefore you get a tent with will last for 20 years camping (3 weeks a year)

Expensive? Well that is relative. Compared to a Caravan? A Caravan Tent? Rent for a bungalow..

Worth every penny! Having used our (2nd hand one) this summer, I wouldn't hesitate at raising funds to buy one brand new!!!

Just spotted this thread.  When we were staying near Bala this summer, there were several of these Dutch tents on site.   We were wondering what they were - gathered that they must be Dutch because of the car reg.

Definitely worth every penny.  Mine was in the region of £1000 about 4 to 5 years ago.  That was with all the extras I had, like the side panels and variable canopy and the internal stuff bag (triangular canvas sheet made to fit the tent with pockets in it).  I think it's worth every penny.  Because it's canvas it'll last for years and years, plus I don't need anything else, like gazebos or windbreaks or groundsheets.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a 2nd hand sunshade thingy (in the uk?) that goes on the front of our tent Vergrote Zilvermieew - I think it's called a VarioLufiel. I'm sure I could get one new from Holland, but as our tent is about 10 years old, a 2nd hand pre-faded one would look best!

Cheers all, the sun is out & I have canvas on my mind!

De Waard  I saw one of these tents up in gairloch on the big sands site.

It was blowing a gale and loads of tents were being blown down, this thing stayed solid and never moved. Always wondered what it was, now I know, you lot are brill !!
