The Breckenridge is a brand new tent from Vango this year. Not many people who have bought it will have been able to test drive it yet so I suspect you will have few responses. Clearly Vango is a very reputable brand and this is their first attempt at competing with the Outwell tunnel tents. I have a Montana 6 which is great but is not really a comfortable six berth. The Breckenridge configuration seems to be more like a true six berth and may well suite families of 4 or 5.

Another contributer who hasn't got a Breckenridge, but I did have a good look at one last week (albeit at an indoor display, which perhaps isn't as good as seeing one performing in weather conditions outside).

Vango has a good reputation (do a search on here, using the icon at the top of the page and you will be pushed to find any complaints; their customer service dept seems to be good too).

The Breckenridge (new model this year, as I'm sure you already know) reminds me a bit of the Vail, which was launched last year and is modified this year to include a SIG.

This is by no means a small tent, but with just four main steel poles and tunnel construction should be reasonable enough to pitch (though I don't suppose it will be super-fast). I don't much like those window canopies (which seemed to just collect water on the Vail, and are just extra faffing, IMHO) but that is a subjective viewpoint, I realise.

The bedroom inners are all spacious, the 2.5 x 6m living area is roomy enough (unless you want to hold parties?) and I quite like the fact that the main door is sideways on (with there actually being three entrances, you can really take your pick, and this should help with ventilation on hot days).

I believe it can be pitched as one (with inners in place) and, with the SIG, it looks likely to be a contender for the Outwell Montana and Vermont ranges, this year.

The green colourway is pleasant enough; not oppressively dark or so light it looks insubstantial, headroom is good and overall build quality seemed fine.

Hope this helps!

PS

I am just watching to see how the new range of SIG tents from Vango performs, since this seems to be a new market for them this year. Paul Robertson, MD from Outdoormegastore, did comment on a previous thread a few weeks ago that they had received return of a Vango with SIG back under complaint; as  it was letting in water on the seams of the SIG. Now, I know that every batch of tents will have a rogue amongst them, and that is probably all this was, but I would like to see how the season progresses for Vango's with SIGS.

One thing's for sure; Outwell had their fair share of problems last year and are still selling well. With Vango's reputation for customer service, any issues which might crop up are likely to be dealt with swiftly and honourably so, if I was considering this tent, I wouldn't let this small thing put me off.

Best thing, of course, is to go and see one 'in the flesh'.

Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Der! Sorry, just realised you have already been to look at one yourself! What did you think to it?
