I was just wondering whether we are the only ones still using a Royal Sassari 6 as everyone seems to buy a new tent every year? If you used to have a Sassari 6 what tent have you got now and how does it compare?

We still have our ours, Mark. We`ve had it 3 years and still going strong. Mind you it hasn`t been out since last autumn and we have our first trip planned for a fortnights time so I`ll let you know if it`s still ok. I do hope so as we can`t really afford the expense of a new tent this year because we are having to invest in a day tent after losing the gazebo in high winds last year.

By the way Mark, how do you get on pitching in the rain? We`ve never had to yet, but I`m worried about it because it`s inner first.

Hi Ray,

We have pitched in the rain quite a few times and we don't find it a problem really as once the tent is up it soon dries anyway. It's taking the tent down in the rain thats a real pain especially if you have to be off a site early morning. We have sat for hours before waiting for it to stop raining, as you know it is a lot of tent to pack away and the only thing you can do when it is wet is throw it in the back of the car, then you spend half an hour trying to demist the inside windows. We have decided our next tent will be a flysheet first or all in one tent as a lot of Outwells are now.  By the way how long does it take you to pitch your Sassari, we have got it down to 1 hr down from 2 and a half hours. We hope we can get another 2 years out of our tent and we would be sorry to see it go.

We still have our Sassari 6 but I am afraid we have defected to the ranks of tin tenters.  Can't quite bring myself to get rid of it though, much as I like the comfort of my caravan I definitely miss the atmosphere of camping.

Hi Mark,

I`d say it takes us roughly an hour to pitch and then another 2 to fill it with all the gear. We`ve more furniture in our tent than we do in our house First time we did it though it took hours. That was my fault as I`m not the most practical of people so I was more of a handicap than help to my poor hubby.

The sassari is our first tent and we have been really pleased with it. It`s withstood high winds when others around us have collapsed and it`s never leaked.

I agree with you about the all in one Outwells, they look great and when funds allow this will definately be our next choice. For the time being though we are more than happy with the sassari and just pray for a summer of good weather.

We still use this tent, we bought it about 6/7 years ago second hand, Really spacious, had no pole breakages, Half an hour to erect, the porch being the most fiddly bit

I am glad this tent has good reviews as I have just won one for £51 I am picking it up in the next few days can't wait to try it out! after researching loads of tents and wittling it down to 3 or 4 models/makes I tried to win loads but never got near to what prices they went for!!!

I had decided to try for a vango, outwell, regatta or gelert! but after loosing loads then I stumbled across this one only a few miles away! Only a few ppl where watching then I put my highest bid in got outbid & thought another1 bites the dust then while watching the minutes count down thought as u do will put 1 final bid in on the last 20 seconds & bingo you are the winner yesssaaa!

lol never thought this camping lark would get me excited lol hubby quite angry cos I cant afford it but its either that or get a drenching again in the rubbish ebay shop bought california crap & most of the time I get my own way!!! All we need now is at least 2 dry days so we can have 1 more trip : )

The instructions were sewn into the bag on ours but all the poles are colour coded to their pole sleeve and it pitches inners first, then the outer is pulled over and the front porch poles put in
