Our second season camping in Vango Oregon 800 - just booked a trip bank hol to be told that many sites are now checking that bigger tents arnt going to go over 7 metres. I said that as was a tunnel tent i would check length - however lady said that as long as the width was not 7 metres we should be ok. (just checked booklet and tent measures 6.8 metres (but what about ropes?)

Are other owners of largish tents having more problems this year on booking over tent size?? - Last year we camped 3 or 4 times and never had any issues and pitched lengthways with car at end - so probably took up more than even 10 metres

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

From what I've found the geodesics are the issue- most sites (not all) can sope with a tent like ours (essential for our family) 7.5m long, as long s its not so wide- 3.5m without awning.  When you get to 7.5 X 7.5 m like some of the geodesics though you need a very big pitch as there's no leeway fro angling or anything (s we found last year)

caravan and camping guidelines are 5 X 9 metres maximum

-------------
April- Christchurch

May - St David's

June- Cheddar

July- IoW

August- Snowdonia

A quiet year for us

thanks for reply - I think we should be ok - width is only 2.8 so will just have to make sure we park car in front and not at end of 7m long bit
