Can anyone tell me of camping shops / exhibitions where tents are actually on display to buy in or near to Brighton. I know there was one at Horsham about this time last year, and I think there was one at Worthing on one of the May bank holiday weekends last year, but if anyone knows of any shops with displays I'd be grateful before my friend buys one from the internet without having been inside it first!

Not particularly near Brighton, but DW camping at the Wyvale garden centre on the Bognor rd just off the A27 at Chichester currently have a fantastic selection of tents on display - helpful, knowledgable staff too!.  My sister lives across the green from where they have the Worthing one, and she seems to think its not on till early June this year.

Hi - Big display every year at Middle Farm, between Lewes and Eastbourne.  Lots of tents on display, all shapes and sizes.  Run by C&E Sports from Newhaven (http://www.cesports.co.uk/).  This year I think it runs from mid-late may for 2 weeks - and some very goods deals on display tents at then end of the show.  Hope this helps.
