Hi

Has anyone got/had a Coleman Magellan Tent 6 or 9? I have been offered one for sale 2nd hand at £100 I am hoping to look at it tomorrow.

Basically I am asking is it a good tent? does that price sound about right not sure how old it is. Has any one had any problems with it I have searched the message boards and some have said it is dark and possibly difficult to erect. and any good thing to look out for when viewing a second hand tent or questions to ask.

The Magellan 9 is £189.99 here. It is a good tent for the money; alloy poles to main dome and not too big or heavy pack size. Downsides, for us, are colour (bit dark inside) and bedroom slopes. We decided to part with ours on that basis, and mostly because we prefer the shape and easier pitching of tunnels.

We also prefer canvas tents, which probably influenced us quite a bit (and that is entirely subjective, I realise).

Friends of ours bought one on the basis of our purchase, and are more than happy with theirs (which just goes to show, we are probably just fussy bug***s!).

Turned out to be a Coleman Michigan 9 virtually brand new.

Just working out the rules for the Row with OH when we put it up in the garden over the weekend LOL
