Hi Heeoyore

Yes I have a Norfolk Lake and used it in anger for the first time over Easter.

I'm very pleased with it.  The reason I bought it was because I feel I'm getting a bit old for a big frame tent and with the children getting older, there may just be the two of us to put it up soon but I still wanted canvas for the summer.

It is very easy to put up - I could even do it on my own although as the canvas is quite heavy I would prefer some help to lift it.

The instructions are not very good so it will take a couple of tries to work out the best way to pitch. I think I've got it sorted now though.

The bedrooms are all separate and if I'm honest just a little smaller than I am used to but the back ones will easily sleep two a piece.

You should be able to pick one up for about £585.

Good luck

Hi Brainhertz,

Thanks for info . Sounds like we should be fine even if there is only two of us. Pitching was main worry as a lot of money to spend on a tent you struggle to pitch !

Pitching is a doddle - for the size of tent you won't find easier.

There is a pic of the N/L in my gallery and also the frame tent it's replacing

We find it really easy to pitch the tent, but have never tried it on our own.  It is much easier than a dome tent and the tent is up in half an hour, pegged out and kitted out within the hour.  The tent reminds me of a catterpillar from a distance.  I love it, the space is amazing.  I don't like the sloping door in bad weather and I recently bought a side canopy to go over the front make it better (see gallery).

We too have a Norfolk Lake and have just this minute returned from our second weekend away in it. The site we were staying at had a footpath running through the middle of it, and i'm not kidding you, everyone was commenting on what a lovely tent it was, and we even had a few come over for a closer look! Spideygirl is right, it takes about an hour to be fully up and pegged (though if the weather is fine I take a bit longer cos i'm a bit anal!!!). I put it up mostly on my own, with just a bit of help raising the hoops from the missus! It was really very windy this morning, I could hear it howling outside but the Norfolk Lake was rock solid and whisper quiet. I have been very impressed so far, well worth the extra cash!

Hi all you Norfolk Lake owners....while you're here......

I put up our new Norfolk Lake tent this weekend and packed the tent away with the groundsheet still attached yesterday as it was bone dry - this should make pitching this weekend much quicker/easier.

I was wondering though how you pitch the tent in really wet/muddy conditions if the groundsheet isn't already attached.  Is it possible to pitch on top of the loose groundsheet and then relay it over the webbing straps from inside the tent, as I wouldn't want to get the fly/curtains etc wet on the inside from lying on the ground ?

Thanks

I've tried once to pitch with the ZIG attached and won't be trying it again!  It was just too difficult to get the tent up AND keep the groundsheet crinkle free.  Also the canvas is heavy enough on it's own - I doubt I could lift it with the ZIG attached, or am I just a wimp?

If the ground was wet & muddy  then I would lay out the ZIG as you suggest and pitch on top of it.  The ZIG is going to get muddy anyway - just make sure you get it the right way up!

Lentrott - I like the pics!

Does anyone have the carpet?  and have you tried fitting it yet?

Thanks Brainherz - now not looking forward to pitching this weekend with zig attached!

We got the carpet at the weekend - feels really good and will be great for the kids when playing inside.  The cut-out section around the 3rd bedroom fixing hook didn't seem to be in the right place, but we did'nt spend any time trying to get it right, so not sure yet if it's a fault or not.

Ha!!! - that was my next question.  Nope, try it whichever way you like - it doesn't fit - it's miles out so we have a carpet with a badly cut hole in the middle and a bump under the carpet where the fixing hook is.

I wonder how many Outwell have sold like this?

When we put it down first it didn't line up - so we presumed we had got it the wrong way round and tried it the other way!  By then the kids were in on top of it so we didn't bother trying any further.

Sounds like it is a definite problem!

Any SunnValley8 owners tried it?

It's the same carpet and is supposed to fit both the Norfolk Lake & SV8.

Hi,

We've got an SV8 and recently purchased the carpet. Haven't tried it in the tent as yet, but will be this coming weekend. Will let you know next week if it fits or not !

Do your Norfolk Lake carpets have Norfolk Lake written on them ? My SV8 one has SV8 written on it despite the box saying it was for both models.

Cheers,

Pete.

Hi Pete, it has SV8 written on it - I hadn't spotted that.  But it shouldn't matter - both tents have the same dimensions, supposedly, and the carpet should fit either/both just like it says on the box.

I suggest you do try yours at the weekend.

It would have been better if Outwell hadn't cut any hole and let me do my own.  I could have made a neater job and got it in the right place.

Quick update -

With help from Gary at Cross Camping, I have found out that the SV8 and the Norfolk Lake are NOT identical and that the position of the fixing for the third bedroom is different.

It looks like the carpet I bought fits the SV8 but not my Norfolk Lake.

Oh boy...the plot thickens. So are there 2 carpets ? Despite the box being labelled for both.

Well ours is going to be used in anger on Friday, so will let you know next week.

Cheers,

Pete.
