We have never been able to put it up though without assistance - one whiff of wind and we're in trouble. There are only two of us and we find it a struggle - particularly as I'm not that tall. Does anyone have any tips on how we can get this tent up without having to call for help each time!

Hi Caroline; we have the Aspen 700 DLX and erecting it on the original 2006 instructions where someone had to stand inside was a nightmare. Have you tried the new instructions? They say to erect the inner like a tunnel which is much easier. The main problem we now find is getting the outer over the inner. We are away this coming weekend and are going to try a cunning plan - we are going to attach a cord to the rear centre pegging point on the outer and try to pull it over the inner. The new instructions are on the Vango website including a video. I've just tried to get the link but the Vango site appears to be down. www.vango.co.uk

That is a tip I picked up from someone on ths site with regard to our diablo 900. We peg the rear bedroom down, attach 2 long guy ropes to the porch ring and pins and then pull it from back to front over the nner using the guy ropes. While it is still not simpleit is much easier than trying to "float" it over the inner.

followed the new vango video to put up aspen this weekend - much easier having the inner like a concertina rather than trying to lift all 5 lots of poles up while oh puts the legs on ! still took a long time to get it up (inc guys) -now looking for a quick to put up large family tent for weekends as it took us about 5 hours to get everything packed away!
The cunning plan worked! To get the flysheet over we threw a cord across from the back of the tent (tied it to a peg puller for weight), attached it to the rear central pegging point (having marked it with red gaffer tape the last time up) and gently pulled it over giving some assistance to each side. It went over very easily and lined the entire outer up over the inner.
Putting the inner up wasn't easy with a stiff wind blowing directly into it but we found by getting the legs in the pins and then lifting made it easier.
Even with the wind we managed to get pitched within 45 minutes with 2 of us so not bad going.
