Hello everyone, I've seen the couple of posts regarding the halfords tent and a couple of peeps reckon they maybe Gelerts (in disguise). Can anyone confirm this and if not is there anything I can look for before buying to confirm this ??
cheers guys
Jase.

Halfords used to have Gelert tents in stock but they did change the model names. They were still branded as Gelert. Not sure if the own brand tents are made by Gelert, but they are probably made by one of the larger manufacturers for Halfords. I don't suppose Halfords suddenly set up their own operation of making tents.
HH = Hydrostatic head simply means the amount of water force a tent can take before it leaks. So the higher the better, in theory.

I'm so glad I found this site! I've been trying to convince my OH to go camping for years now - and suddenly (after a brief visit to a site while on a day trip) he's relented and he even told me about this offer! We're complete novices so it fantastic sourcing everything on here and getting other peoples advice/opinions and hopefully learning from their experiences! I've not been camping for years so Im well excited at the prospect of taking the kids camping over the summer! As money isn't in abundance I was thinking that this offer was too good to be true but reading the threads on it - I think we'll bite the bullet and go for it! Thanx everyone
Well... ...that was the plan before I continued to read and read and read some more (basically at every opportunity!) lots of threads on here about all the different tents available....talk about confused!!! (not to mention experiencing tent envy! Which is really strange when I dont even have a tent yet! ) I've decided to write my (ever increasing!!) list of absolute requirements (or should that be wish list?!) and take it from there. There's just too much choice!! I just wanted to say a big thanx to everyone for all their views/tips/advise and for sharing their experiences...and humour! I've had such a good laugh reading some of the posts on here too - this site is just amazin'! And yup - totally addictive!! In the meantime the quest for my first family of 4 tent will continue ...thing is I think I've definitely found the one for us...then I see another one!! At the rate my list is growing I dont know if my wee punto will be able to hold it all!!! [sigh] I'll be looking at roof boxes and trailers before I know it!
You could still be here reading this in a year and still not found what you want. We are looking for a new tent to replace the one we have and just when I've made a decision another one comes along to confuse me! Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.

thanks matshan Im sure we'll get there eventually!! At least it's fun to research and Im learning loads (in theory anyway!) - Im not at the pulling my hair out stage - at least not yet!
We bought the family deluxe package from halfords. Having never camped before we spent A while putting it up and to be honest I thought it looked the business, was really big and everything including lights sleeping bags etc compacted into the carry case.
Fair enought the HH is low but we will probably be fair weather campers for the first while any way. Starting to get a buzz about heading away now.
