I am thinking of buying a Royal Avignon 5 or 6 person tent. I like the 6 as it is slighly wider but I was wondfering if anyone had the 6 and how it stood up to winds etc. I have been told the 5 is more stable so I am a bit confused which to get. Any advice would be appreciated

hi jonven. we had the avignon 6 and although we thought it was a great tent, we have changed to a khyam xxl classic this year. We had very windy weather for every camping trip last year and our avignon did suffer in the wind as it is a very tall tent. It never collapsed but suffered more than many of the 'shorter' tents on the sites.
We found it very easy to erect and had loads of room even for 5 of us. But it did turn into a kite in the gentlest breeze and i found it quite scary at times while hubby was pegging out and i was hanging on to the other end!!
I have a Avignon 6 plus, put it up on Thursday in the garden. At first I thought it wasn't very steady, just some bendy poles. Then we read the instructions and it has stronger poles to insert inside on either side of the tent it to make it more sturdy. They are MASSIVE tents, with good size bedrooms and huge living space, plus extra shade from the canopy. Took us about 1hr to put up 1st time, but now we know what to do are expecting it to take about half that time when we go camping. Can't wait for our first camping teip in our new tent.
Thanks for your replies, I think I will have a look at the Khyam easy erect tents as well, being new campers the last thing we want is to have the tent take off lol

We have a Royal Avignon 6+ bought from ebay and put it up for the first time this last weekend. We dont have instructions for it and would be very very grateful if someone could scan a copy of the instructions for us? We did manage to put it up okay but it did take a while figuring it out! So if anyone could let us have the instructions that would be so helpful!
By the way, we loved this tent, it is so roomy and both of us being tall it was great to be able to stand up in it - the only complaint might be that it doesnt have a sewn in groundsheet (but it didnt rain so it didnt matter!!) and we couldnt figure out how the groundsheet should go!!
Hi Gill, the groundsheet used to get on my nerves as it does seem to need to go in a certain way. Once we discovered how it fitted best we marked the groundsheet in permanent marker at the back so we would remember next time. Sorry can't help anymore than that.
You star! Ive got them at last!! Ive searched for Royal tents and royal avignon but didnt find them - didnt know they were Royal Leisure!
I am very grateful - have a great 30th birthday - wish I was still 29!!!! Hopefully it will now take us less than the age it seemed to put it up last time!!
Hope it goes well. I knew the parent company was Unipart Leisure so found the site from there. I must admit to being very happy at seeing the instructions as we didnt have a clue where to start!
