Is what I shouted today when pitching my new Montana 6 for the first time in the garden - I raised the back poles first and got my Mrs to hold it up as I started to peg it. Then the whole thing fell forward with my Mrs holding on in the spread eagle position.....funny funny funny.

Anyway, I could not find full pitching instructions on here and the Outwell ones in the bag were rubbish. Can anyone kindly tell me the knack in raising the damn thing. All in all it took 1 hr 50 mins - rubbish I know.

I also broke the top porch poles as I was bending them into the black plastic thingys. and when I had finished the tent was not in line with the footprint. Hows that then ???

Another trip to Winfields required now to exchange the poles.

We pitched ours for the first time last night and I had a bit of a struggle with the porch pole too, so can sympathise with you.

look here outwell.co.uk and watch the video. one tip. once you put the first (back) pole in get the wife to hold it while you put the guy rope in, this will stop it folding down on you.

Yep, guy out the back of the tent and raise the back poles then the next set of poles until you are at the front and have effectively moved it forward like a caterpillar unfolding!  Guy at the front and bingo, it shouldn't fall down.  You can then peg it all out and adjust all the guys.  We can do it in just over half an hour now.

Last time we pitched ours we tried pitching it front end first - this seemed easier.

Open the front door and air is allowed into the tent reducing the drag on the poles as you work towards the back of the tent.

When you work from the back, even if you had opened the front door, the air doesn't get right inside the tent until you reach the front of the tent.

Try it

Les.
