There is always the option of the Royal Pescara which is in exactly the same style as the Nebraska. There was a post on the site somewhere by someone who had purchased one as a second or third replacement for a Nebraska and it might be worth considering i the quality and price are better.

£500 is a bit much we paid less than that for the XXL from Cassy's Camping on line.

We aree thinking of tropical fish in the summer if it's warm enough.  We love our Nebraska it has everything we want from a tent just don't want the leaks

Hope you find the tent for you

As much as I hate the idea of a leaky new tent, she who must be obeyed has stated that there isn't another tent she likes as much. I think I am going to use the sealer on all the outside seams and follow it up with a Fabsil coating.

If that doesn't work I will send it back and look at a Royal Pescara.

Check with your supplier before daoing that.  Seam sealing the outside won't look too good and might prevent you from returning it!

You use sealer on the inside, you know?

If you use Fabsil on a new tent you will invalidate the warranty, so that's the last thing I'd be doing, especially on a tent at that price!

Liddenham,

Thanks for that. Someone told me to put seam sealer on the inside a long time ago. For some reason I wrote outside on my posting. Must be going a bit senile!

I think I will just use the seam sealer for the time being - particularly on the bedroom pod seams if that is possible. I understand that Fabsil dries to a clear finish - so I'm not sure how the company would know it had been applied. Saying that, I take your point and will hold off for the time being.

If it leaks after the seam seal application I thing I may "paint" the outer seams with Fabsil to prevent the dreaded wicking through to the bedroom pods.

To be honest, all I want is a dry Nebraska XL. Is that too much to ask?

...Probably.

I applied seam seal after informing the retailer I had a problem.  I spent ages trying to do the seams that the bedrooms hang from.  After all that it still leaked.

Now it's gone back and after some thought I have decided not to have another Nebraska.

I just tested our new Nebraska XL this weekend.

We got it up in  the garden and it got several severe soakings with the hosepipe and a 15 minute 'natural' downpour.

All the seams on the 'upper' part of the tent were completely leak free.

We got 2 small 'weeps' at the inner corners of the 'tee' shape where the SIG joins the upper. It seems that it is easy to overtension these points and the leaks were reduced / eliminated once we slacked things off. I would suggest this may be a design fault.

Now we feel happy to go camping next week knowing we will stay dry.

Will report on how it performs if we get any rain!!!

Jim

They are roughly the same price, but from recent experience no better.  We have just had our Vermont L replaced due to leaks in exactly the same place as the Nebraska.  We havn't tried the replacement in the rain yet but will do so as soon as possible.
