Suns,

Thanks for the reply, yeah its actually raining in there are two seam lines around the base of the tent where the material colour changes and the other where the SIG attaches, it seems to be leeaking around these as get pools of water on the inside of the SIG Looks to be the only place its comming through

also through the seams on the poles going over the pop of the tent too

Hi -

These are 3 jobs you can do yourself and it won't cost much at all

Tenacious tape will make a good repair for any rips. We have used it for a ripped flysheet on our Sunncamp bravo and it is still going strong 2 years later. And you can get special tent cleaning fluid from any good camping shop (along with the tape)

As for waterproofing, your SV8 does not need to have fabric proofing as that makes little difference on manmade fabrics. What you need to do is treat the seams when you have detecteed the faulty areas. See my detailed post on this thread

If it IS the fabric itself which is leaking then the PU waterproof coating is substandard and waterproofing the outside won't make a lasting difference.

Hi

Think that its a 2005 model, Will have a look for the tape then to do the repair and will look for some seam selant too thanks Foggers

Just one question with the seal tape on should i just seal both sides of the tape unless it is pealing off easy then will take the tape off and seal the seam its self.

Graham

Glad to help, Graham. The Tenacious Tape and seam sealant should be less that £5 each in any good camping shop.

If the existing heat bonded tape on the seam is peeling away I would treat the stitching wth the seam sealant and cover the section with Tenacious tape cut to size,  AND then treat both edges of that with seam sealant too. - I am always a belt n braces kind of person!

Right got some Tenacious tape found that it was made by McNett so found it on the web and got some seam sealer and seam sure too, going to go over the full tent when the weather holds out to do it. Fingers crossed this will cure my leak problem.

Was considering getting a new tent but we like this one so much that think that we are going to try and salvage it and get a new Wheely bag to carry it around in.

Thanks again for your help.
