Having serious doubts now re: the Vango Killington 900 I've just ordered and horror stories of leaky new models and poor quality. Am considering the Outwell Georgia XL instead, but am concerned re: the implications of pitching the inner first - expecting to use a lot in France where we've previously had fun (!) pitching fly first tents in pouring rain! Grateful for thoughts/experiences of both this tent and also inner pitched first tents.
Please advise whilst I still have time change my order!
Thanks
Elizabeth

We went to a tent show at the weekend with a view to buying the Vango Killington....thought it would be like the Diablo, but flysheet first pitching. We were very disapointed with the Killington and the quality looked poor ( unlike the Diablo which we almost bought back end of last year). We too are keen on the Outwell Georgia XL, but having had a leaking Nebraska last year, we are slightly concerned with Outwell's quality.
One thing is for certain, in our case, we will not have the Killington, but with probably opt for the Georgia XL and hope that it is better quality than the Nebraska. I think that because the design is more like the Harford range, I'm optimistic that the Georgia will be good.
Thanks for that, it's the useful feedback I've been hoping for. I'm now really getting cold feet re: the Killington and might try to persuade husb to put aside reservations re: inner first pitching and opt for the Outwell. His concern is that we'll turn up on a site in France in dreadful storm and the inner will be soaked - neither of us wants to take a heater as advised elsewhere on here. However, not the end of the world as we also take a couple of the Quechua instants with us for overnighters so, if the worst came to the worst, we could throw these up initially and wait fot the storm to pass! He's on his way home now, I'll let you know what 'we' decide!
I do feel for you because if you are paying a lot of money for a tent, you would expect it no to leak. We had a Khyam, prior to our Outwell that we returned and never had a problem with it.
It is disappointing when you can't trust the quality. I have seen other threads re. the Vango Killington and the it does appear to have quality concerns with water leaks. I would put the thread up but I can't seem to find how to do it!!
Good luck.
Jo

We've always had Khyams as our 'big' tents' and they've been great. Only replacing our Ridgi Pod now because we've inherited a totally delinquent cat who decided to scale it in the fine weather and who has (to my husband's mind) shredded it! Have tried to find replacement pods, but it was a one off for them, and the pods are no longer available - the great non'etent'! Have now lost faith in them as it cost a bomb and don't trust the continuity of their revolutionary ideas! Sad and disillusioned.
Anyhow, gave husb a glass of red when he got home, showed him some of the 'threads' (he thinks I'm an anorak) and he has sanctioned the Outwell G Xl based on the hi quality spec. Hope outdoormegastore will agree to change the order, they can't not. Will let you know what we think, though won't risk it in the garden with the loon cat (he's not a tennis racket yet)!
Georgia LX arrived last week. We put it up, with relative ease, spent some time admiring it with girls trying out their rooms and had even managed to get it back into its totally unrealistic bag (the only criticism so far) within an hour. Much easier to erect/strike than the Khyam Ridgipod, impressive space and I think it's going to be good. Couldn't weather test it in the garden as we don't trust the tent 'tacking cat not to shred it, but first impressions are good, seems well thought through.
