It has taken us ages to decide, but we've ordered the Montana 12 as it seems to fit all of our needs into a sensible footprint. I've ordered the utility tent from this shop too since it was cheaper than buying the side canopy, and a bit more practical I think - we are assuming that you can put one of these on your pitch, there was no mention of an additional charge for a pup or utility tent when we ordered, we'll just pay when we get there if there is.
So fingers very tightly crossed that it arrives tomorrow so we can give it a good drenching with the hose and I am praying that it will not leak ! I think it's supposed to rain again this BH (shame as the sun is shining now) and we really don't want 3 soggy nights.
Is it worth me ordering delta pegs, or will the pegs it comes with do for now?
Thanks

Good luck with your Monty, it seems a popular choice.
The utility tent is a good decision in my view. Looks like you've made some sensible purchases.
When you get the hose out make sure you fire it over the top the tent not AT the fabric, the pressure from a hose can be quite high and you don't want to damage the fabric.
Good choice Bluebella ! We're really pleased with our Monty 12, and have the Oklahoma day-tent too - but I'd get some more pegs - the plastic pegs Outwell provide are really only OK for soft ground - anything harder and you really need some delta's and/or rock-pegs.
Hi concord.
Dont laugh, what are rock pegs/delta pegs?
I bought some metal 'V' shaped pegs yesterday with serrated edges. Also have some blue plastic ones that came with the tent.
Can you kindly explain for me.

Rock pegs are just very strong steel pegs that do not bend in hard ground - just like very big nails really !
Delta Pegs are great pegs that you will see lots of comment on on this site (do a search on 'Delta') - they come in plastic or metal, and are almost impossible to be pulled out of the ground (unless you mean to of course!) - they are great for main guy lines (I use about 12 Delta pegs on my Monty 12 main guy lines, and rock pegs everywhere else). http://www.deltagroundanchors.co.uk/
The 'V' shaped pegs you have should work OK in most conditions, but may struggle in very hard ground - I think in general the pegs you get with any new tent vary between useless or at best mediocre, and most people replace them with stronger, more robust ones.
Dear Dave,
Thanks so much. Never set eyes on those at the camping shop! I've probably left it too late to order them for the w/e. I'll get onto it before our June trip though. Getting very excited now. Bought an Outwell universal canopy and footprint g'sheet for this trip. Looking forward to seeing the whole thing up. Will doubtless have the 'leak testing' on Sunday. Weather in Devon looking dreadfull.Any leaks in yours? Also, did you have problems with the porch pole? I'm intending not to use the porch this tme. I will put the canopy over the other side entrance. Do you think that is a good idea?
Any advice would be great. This will only be the fourth time we have put it up so still new at this camping game.
Thanks again
No leaks in our Monty so far - but good luck with your leak testing !
Am just replacing my porch pole as the fibreglass in one section has split - we have the 2005 version without the enclosed porch - not sure if it is the same part on 2006/07 models.
I don't have the side canopy, but I keep thinking it would be a good idea for rainy days and would be generally nice to have a larger covered 'porch' area, the small entrance is about the only thing I'd change on the Monty - think I may be getting a canopy soon !. Let me know how you get on !
