My son has been offered a Vango Colorado 600 brand new ,unused and only purchased one month ago.His friends parents bought it on impulse (not really campers).I have used Vango for several years and have a Oregon 800 but not familiar with the Colorado 600.He has been offered it for around £100 which seems pretty good after looking at various web deals. We are going on Tuesday to put the tent up .I have looked at it on the Vango site but that does not give you a good idea of liveability, I have not seen any mention of it on this forum ,so it has got me wondering .any feedback would be most welcome. Regards...

I`ve owned a Colorado 1200dlx since 2005, used it many times and am very happy with it. I think the 600dlx (it is the DLX version, yes?) differs only in the size of the pods. Also, the 2006 Colorados have a riser groundsheet throughout the living area.
Sooo...what do you want to know? It`s got a vast living area, it`s easy to pitch ( flysheet first, takes about 45 minutes once you get the hang of it), and it`s a very sturdy tent. In mine, the front door poles out and makes a small sun canopy, or you can add a windbreak for more shelter. It gives the doorway enough protection so that you can sit inside with the canopy up and watch the rain outside. Lots of headroom in the central dome, pods are usual sloping design. Plenty ventilation and I for one had no condensation problems in mine.
I think also that the new canopies that Vango brought out next year fit all the DLX Colorados.
Thanks Val. its not the DLX version its just the 600,no 3rd bedroom,it has a innner to sleep 4 at one end and an inner for 2 at the other with the usual living area in centre for living...regards john.

Ah, that`s a pity about it not being the dlx. Can`t use a canopy for a start.
I had a look on the web for a diagram. Have to say that the two man pod is only really a one man pod, and the four man pod would be a good fit for three. Central living area is good. But to be truthful, if I was choosing between it and say, the Vango Wyoming currently on offer at Millets (with free cooker this weekend for spends over £150) there wouldn`t be much of a struggle going for the Wyoming.

Yeah..take your point Val and the Wyoming looks a good buy.My son would be using the tent for him and his girlfriend and would probably end up paying around £80 -£90 for the Colorado which for a new tent of that size is not to bad...His friends parents paid £135 last month...its the new black/silver colour. We will have a better idea once we put it up.Thats one of the difficulties with Scotland. To few dealers with tents on display, fortunately there are great sites like this with loads of experience and help..regards.

I had a 2005 model untill recently and it was a great tent. We have slept four adults and two children which obviously made the living space cramped but usually just use it for 3-4 of us with the two bedroom pod removed. The living space is large enough for a cooker table with larder and side table another table with four folding chairs etc, I am six feet and can stand up in most of the living space. For just two people it would be more than adequate. The two bedroom pod despite being stated as 120cm wide does take a 130 wide rubberised cotton airbed and sleep 2 adults even with the sloping side. The larger bedroom did take 2 rubberised cotton airbeds but not 2 colman comfort air beds.
With practice it is easy enough to pitch. We have used it for long stays and weekends and think it is a great tent but at the end of the day its down to personal taste. It has stood up to strong winds in Ullapool when everyone else packed up and went home or had there tent ripped to shreds even though it was pitched side on to the wind. It was damaged last year when kids tripped over a guy ripping the tent, sent it back to Vango for repair at my cost and Vango have replaced it with a 2007 model .
Have only pitched new tent in the garden and found it even easier to pitch than the old model( the pole sleeves are shorter making positioning easier). Unfortunately Vango have reduced the width by 20cm but still think you will get 2 of the above airbeds in if needed, the door rolls to the side in this model and does not have poles to make a cannopy, my only other gripe is the large bedroom pod now only has one zip so when the bedroom is split into two you can only get out one side!
For £100 pounds I think it is a bargain if it suits their needs. If you want I can email you some pics of old and new to give you a better idea.
Rob, thanks for the information,as you say sounds like it would suit the two of them with room to spare. It would be great if you could send some photos, would you require my e-mail address or would you send it via the forum !!!! regards
