Can anyone tell me how long it takes them to pitch the Oregon 8 and have they ever had any trouble with the TBS system.

Thanks

Surprised you haven't had a reply so I'm bumping you to the top but also type in a search and you will get a few threads about this tent,

We have the 600 2006 modle and takes two of us an unrushed 30 mins or so to "get it up"...including bedroom hung (we only use the big one) and ground sheet layed!

Hi folks,

Sorry so long in replying - have been away in Vietnam; not camping unfortunately!!

Homebird, thanks for bumping me to the top - much appreciated. Was starting to get paranoid.

Solisgazer, yes it is the 800

Andymatt, thanks, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

I'm using the Oregon as a weekend tent (have an a Aspen for the week long holidays) and was really torn whether to go for it, or the Outwell, or the Kyam. Anyway, went for the Oregon and if it's 30 mins (unrushed i.e. with a bottle of lager, or glass of white wine in hand) that's absolutely perfect!

The best way to use the TBS system is to slacken all straps before pitching and once tent is up and pegged out tighten all your TBS straps, hope this helps....

Yep I would say about 30 mins - we have the slightly smaller Vango Quest 600 which is not made any more which takes 2 of us about 20 mins on a nice flat pitch.

The TBS system of extra straps (to hold the hoops more steady)  does not need to be in use all the time so it has little effect on pitching time. We keep the straps on ours rolled up and secured with rubber bands; there are little pouches on the inside ofthe flysheet to tuck them in when not in use.

When pitching our tent the one thing we do have to remember is to thread the TBS strap THROUGH the bedrooms (there are velcroed slits on th bedrooms for this purpose) so that the hoop over the bedroom can also be stabilised. I am guessing it will be the same on yours too.

We just clip the straps up in place when we go out, in case the weather changes before we come back. The combination of TBS and delta ground anchors makes our tent rock solid in the heaviest of weather.

About 30 mins for 2 to pitch. This time is not affected by the TBS straps these can be undone and have little pockets on the side of the tent to store them in. We put ours on only for bad weather
