Hi,

New to camping (well not since I was a kid!) am looking to buy a tent for 2 adults, 2/3 kids. Have looked at the Easy Camp Taranto 600. Has anyone got one? Is it any good? Is it easy to put up?

Any other suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Russ

Hi Russ & welcome to the forum

I've never seen the Taranto 600, so I can't help except to say that Easy Camp are a good mid range quality. Hopefully, now I've bumped your post up to the top again, someone who knows more about the particular model will answer you

Thanks Jean,

Apparently this may not be the best option as the poles are not that good, I have been pointed in the direction of a Vango Oregon 600???

Thanks for the welcome and the reply

Russ

Hi Russ - welcome to the huge family of UKCS - laods of people willing to give advice when required.

I personally would go for a tent slightly larger than what I would need - i.e if there was 4 of you go for a 6 - 6 go for an 8 etc; as this will give you a little extra room as long as the budget will let you do this of course!

Vango make some nice tents as do Outwell which is a popular make of tent with members on here.  Ask yourself a few questions to help you choose:-

Do you want a tent that you can stand up in?

Do you want lots of separate bedrooms/pods?

Do you want a large living area?

Do I want a dome tent or tunnel tent?

Do I want the flexibility of adding a canopy?

Do I want steel poles or fibreglass?

Once you have answered simple questions like this you can narrow down your search - this is what I did and it worked a treat! I got a Outwell Montana 6 and have now just added an extension.

Best of Luck

Louise x

Have you seen the coleman columbia 10 ( 3 x 2 berth + living area and small porch)from www.outdoorworld.org.uk for only £149 !! cant go wrong at that price then you will know what you like or hate about tents .

We've been camping for years in a sunncamp (never let me down !! even in terrible weather) we are going for a bit more space and light like an outwell georgia xl but thats much more money !! I saw that coleman offer and it would be a good starter.

Towsure are advertising larger Vangos on clearance on their website, may be worth a look, some large ones on there at good prices.
