Dear Consumer

We have received reports that a number of Killington 600 & 900s from a 2007 production batch are showing signs of water ingress at the anchor points on the flysheet. Whilst we are not sure if every tent is affected, we are recalling them.

Consequently, if you have had problems, we would be grateful if you could return your tent complete, to the retailer that you bought the tent from.

The retailer is authorised to offer you a replacement or similar tent of the relevant size.

The Killington 400 and all other Vango models are unaffected.

iIf you are not sure if you have a faulty tent, or are unsure of what to do, please email

aftersales at amg-group.co.uk

Hi Carys; Well done Vango for doing the right thing! On the plus side having just spent the weekend in a 2006 Aspen 700 DLX in 40 hours of pouring rain with occasional gales I can tell you that it did not leak - thanks!

Why is everyone congratulating vango?

Producing a tent with a manufacturing fault shows poor controls and a badly run business- i bought one and it has now gone back for repair.  Will take 5 weeks.  No compensation - i just have to wait and have had to cancel a family holiday.

I own a Coleman - no problems.  Owned a wynnster for 6 years - no problems. I even have a small argos tent - no problems.

I will never buy Vango again. If it wasn't for an excellent retailer (Leisure Trail Solent in Southampton) who have promised to give me a tent for my August holiday if Vango fail to fix my tent in time, i would have gone for a refund.

Hopeless!!

That goes for retailers, too.

Aren't you pleased to be dealing with a manufacturer who has at least acknowledged the faults, gun2901?

Was it your own decision to accept a repair? The info states:

'The retailer is authorised to offer you a replacement or similar tent of the relevant size.'

You didn't fancy an immediate replacement, or exchange for another make / model?

Liddenham and solar,

I'm not necessarily agreeing with what gunn is saying, but you are making an assumption that the fault with his/her tent is connected with the recall.  It sounds to me that this is a separate issue, and that 5 weeks waiting is the normal resolve for a fault.

I do however applaud the recall.  I don't think it's to do with a badly run business and poor quality controls.  Quality is not just judged on pre-sales service and control, but after sales service too.

Mike

You're right, Mike, I did assume that gunn's faulty tent was connected with the recall, basically because he wrote:

'Producing a tent with a manufacturing fault shows poor controls and a badly run business- i bought one and it has now gone back for repair.'

which does imply that he bought one of the tents with a manufacturing fault and, because his response is on this thread, which is about the recall, it does suggest that is what we are talking about here.

Still, apologies if I made a mistake and, if is a separate issue entirely, then I'm sure many on these boards would be interested to hear about any issues with Vango Customer Services, and maybe help with support or advice.

You may be right... (newbie honestly not trying to rock the boat  ).  I just seem to sit on the optimistic side of things on forums, as i watch too many threads on other forums deteriorate into arguments...

anyway..  i shall digress no longer ..

Cheers
