Hi All!

I'm considering buying a Vango Idaho 400 and was hoping to get some advice...

Does anybody know if it's possible for one person to put it up on their own?

Also just wondering if anyone out there has one, and what do they think of it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave

I've seen the 600 pitched and I'm very sure that I (as a small weedy female) could pitch it on my own and I think the 400 is smaller than the 600.

It looked like a really nice tent, if I was buying something of that size it's deff what I would go for.

Have just returned from a weekend of camping having used the "Vango Idaho 400".

I am sure you could put it up yourself but it may not be easy. I'm sure if you are camping alone some fellow campers will give you some help.(I know I would)

In all, not a bad tent we had sun, wind & rain this weekend and held up well so seems pretty robust. Like most tents it says it is a four birth but if you are like us and use a double airbed then it just fits in the bedroom with about a foot each side spare (Alas the OH won't go camping without an airbed).

SIG is a plus and mesh on is also a good idea as you get the fresh air woithout the insects. The only downside and this is very minor, is the colour, we bought (Mercury & Black) which sticks out like a sore thumb on the campsite.

At the end of the day the OH likes it and thats all that matters.

Hi Dave,

Bought the 400 a couple of months ago and have had a few w/ends out of it so far. Fab tent.

I found it relatively quick & easy to pitch (I use a groundsheet too) but it's a bummer taking it down and packing it away by yourself.... especially in the rain.  I've only used my black cat heater once but once you're zipped into your wee pod, snuggled into your SB you're as warm as toast anyway.  I love hearing the rain lashing away outside when I'm all cozy .... it's a part of camping that I actually enjoy (perv or wot?)

Agree with Shanobby's comments inc colour!  When I called Vango about available colours they admitted they were having "logistical problems regarding supplies from overseas"  so it was a Mercury/Black or nothing if I wanted an Idaho 400 - ho hum.

Cracking tent for 2 adults but 4 would be pushing it I feel.  My only problem with it (and it's not the tents fault) is my wee dog can slip through the sig at the door but he hasn't worked out how to get back in - it's starting to drive me nuts.  I don't know how to "seal" the sig at both entrances.  I might have to experiment with those clingon thingys as I don't want him going walkies in the middle of the night!

Just need to get a couple of poles and some guys for the door and I'll be sorted .... for now.   Enjoy your camping matey!
