Just returned from our first camping trip in the lakes really enjoyed it but we need a new tent as the one we have is a dome tent an not big enough for a family of 3 adults and 2 children. Can you help with suggestions as we are totally new to camping. Would like a tent with standing height and also large living area to cook and sit in.

Hi to the Ellis family & welcome to the forum

It's best to view tents in the flesh so to speak. If you've got a camping shop in your area, have a good look around the tents on display, make a list of the ones you're keen on, then ask on this forum for advice on those particular models. Some of the campers on here will probably be able to tell you where you can buy the model you want at the cheapest price too

well cooking in a tent is usually thought of as a big no no but I understand how poor the weather has been this last weekend and know a lot of people broke that golden rule :D

Go on then, fire us a price range and how old are the kids?

Hi andi70 and welcome to UKCS a most addictive website. As already mentioned best to go and look round several shops. Make yourself a list of wants from your tent and then choose the tent that best fits your own personal needs. There are loads of tents out there that would suit you needs and could we could probably recommend several. But go and take a look yourself and then let us know your shortlist.

We were at Great Langdale Campsite, just past Ambleside, where did you stay was it any good? ours was fab, want to go again, BTW we have an Outwell Indiana 6, but they do a bigger one for 8, lots of space, flat front so you don,t lose any floor space with sloping sides, and the canopy on front is included, a very stable tent, we weren't at all worried about the wind and very dry when it rained, did'nt even get any condensation, which a lot of people have compalined about.

We were at oakhead at ayside but not too good we really want to go back so will make a note of that site. Were the toilets and showers clean? we went to go outdoors and we like the outwell nebraska xl. Plenty of living space and decent sized bedrooms but a little expensive let me know were we can buy cheaper go outdoors are selling it at 419.

Hi there, we just purchased a tent with the intention of having a large living area with a bit of privacy when sleeping (with 6 kids & a dog it was a must ) so we opted for the Sunncamp Orbit XL, main reasons being:

*easy to erect (flysheet 1st)
*huge living area, with standing room for a 6 footer at least
*3 separate bedrooms
*price (£185 with postage)

Have a look here
