I am considering this tent for summer weekend camping for wife and I.  It has advantages of full height sleeping and living areas. Also not expensive at about £100.

But I have a feeling that it may be a very fairweather tent? 

The Coleman website doesn't have any info on this tent so I am asking here. How do you get information on Coleman products?

Does it have three doors in the living area?

The polyester flysheet is only 2000mm proof - will it leak in summer storms?

 
Is the divider between the inner rooms fully removable to make one continious sleeping area?

Does it have full headroom in both living and sleeping areas?

Has it a sewn in groundsheet in the sleeping area?

Anybody any views on this tent?

Hi Davie,

I have this tent and used it for the first time over the weekend, we were lucky up here and didn't get as bad as weather as down south but none the less had a few heavy showers and it did get quite blustery.  The tent faired up really well, stayed very stable and there were no leaks. (I read on here that 1500mm was the min recommened for our weather)

The tent has three doors, one on each side and one at the front with a window which opens up as a porch (steel poles included) if you want to.

The bedrooms are not able to make one room, they are two completly seperate sleeping pods which are clipped in.

The bedrooms do have full stand up height, slighlty lower than the main living area as they are clipped into that but we are 5' 10" and 6' and had no problems at all. The sleeping area, fitted our coleman airbed with no problem, although there is only a gap of a few inches on one side and at the bottom, again this was not a problem for us.

The sleeping pods both have sewn in groundsheets and in the living area you have a riser groundsheet.

We really enjoyed using the tent, this was our very first camping trip and we def have the bug...the only downside was I felt that the tent was a little drafty (mind as I said it was quite blustery) there are no storm flaps on this so sometimes the groundsheet was getting blown over into the tent (if that makes sense) I am going to counteract this by getting some Wurmmi pegs which will hold the groundsheet into a bath tub style.

The tent is really easy to pitch, it was up within about 20mins with the groundsheet and bedrooms in in about another 10, this was our first time pitching so I was very pleased with this.  It was also easy to pack up and fitted back into the bag without any problems at all.

I have some photos of it when we had a trail pitch in the garden on my homepage, I will try and get some of it pitched properly when we were away for you.

I know of one other member who uses it for there weekend tent and don't think they have ever had a problem also there have been a few other members on talking about getting them over the last few days.

Ah, well!  On that score I am fortunate enough to say that I am not in a position to comment.   But I seem to recall on another thread somebody commented that, despite its relatively modest hydrostatic head figure, it stood up to wet and windy weather very well.

Perhaps I should have left it in the garden over the last few days to check!!

Another vote in favour of this tent.  It is indeed solid and sturdy and not difficult to pitch.  My only concern is that we are camping this summer in a midge-infested area; if I had been a little wealthier when I bought it (at under £100) I might have gone for one with a SIG so that once dusk approached we could zip-close the mesh doors and laugh at the frustration of the midges from inside!!

This is my opinion of the tent now and am already looking to get one with a SIG as we will always be camping in scotland.  Had lots attracted to the light and came in under the gap.

Love the shape and size of this one though so am now trying to find this tent but with a SIG!

I am beginning to think that it is a lost cause!

I spent an age pitching it last weekend and I still had a gap along both sides.... I can't get it to rise up at all so they still kept coming in!

I am def on the lookout for one with a SIG now because of our great little Scottish friends!!!!
