Hi all. I'm a new member in need of advice.

I would value some advice from any owners of wild country halo 73 or 104.

I'm looking for a replacement for a coleman trispace (about 5 years old) because I want a porch and possibly more living space. Have been very happy with coleman otherwise.

We are a family of 5, kids 11, 8, 5. I like the halo 73 but haven't been able to see it in the flesh. Concerned that, with airbeds, bedroom space may be a bit tight. Considering halo 104 - but wonder if it will be HUGE!

Cheers

Hello Sawbones, thanks for your contribution about gas heaters,  I thought I would return the favour and bump you up the list.  Where are you based? I recently went to PJ camping in Romford to see the 'Aztec Falcon 6'.  Personally I dismissed it as it was pitched inner first, but if you are looking at the 'Halo' that won't matter to you.

PJ camping at had all three models in the range on display as I recall so would give you an idea of scale. The reason I mention this is you may have more joy seeing the Falcon

Many thanks. It's nice to lose the sad blue face.

I'm based in the North East - I should've include that previously.

The falcon 6 looks a good size - haven't looked at Aztec tents before, but I've heard they're a good brand. I've also had some reservations about inner first pitching in British weather but I'll tolerate this if I like the tent's other features.

Cheers.

We've got a Halo 73, and a family of 5.

Each of the big bedrooms will fit three single airbeds, but not a lot else, or a double airbed with plenty of extra room.  The third single bedroom will fit a single airbed, but this isn't separated from the living area by a full partition - it's more of a zipped curtain that isn't attached at the bottom.  This won't be an issue if no-one is sleeping inthe living area.  We're planning to have all three kids in one of the big bedrooms while they're still young, then our son can have the single room and the two daughters in the big room.  It'll certainly be big enough for us (like you, I thought the 104 seemed a bit TOO big), but then we're used to titchy backpacking tents.  The living area has got lots of room + great headroom.  Overall an excellent quality tent from a company that deserves more recognition in the family tent market.  I guess you're going to have to try an get to see a 73 or a 104 to get a better idea.  Sorry I can't be any more help!

Thanks, that's helpful. It seems that a 73 should be big enough.

As you rightly say, it would be best to see the tents before buying, but I haven't found anywhere that has them on display.

Did you manage to look at any before buying yours?

Hi Sawbones,

We're a family of four and have just tried out our new halo 104 over the weekend. It is very big, but who ever complains of having too much space!

I had the same problem as you - coudn't see one up as we live in the North-East. We bought one based on past experience of wild country tents and advice/reviews on this website. We haven't been disappointed, it's a good quality tent. The only problem we had was the zips on the doors on the bedrooms being very tight after putting the flysheet on, but i think that'll sort itself out with practice pitching it as they were fine before we put the flysheet on.

I would advise you to look for the 2006 models if you decide to buy one as they're considerably cheaper. Terra Nova also have a few porch extensions left for the 2006 models which won't fit the 2007 ones (they no longer manufacture the extensions)

Good luck with the tent hunting! Now my daughters going to make this post look 'cool' (apparently).
