Hi,

I am hoping someone will be better with maths and measurements and twnts than me.

We own a diablo 900 and would like to go to Lincoln Farm, Witney but their pitches are only 7m by 7m.  I have spoken to someone who owned the same tent and she told me that she never had a problem anywhere if she pegged the tent out with the pods in each corner, rather than on each side and front and back.

My calculations (and these are only on paper plans drawn to scale ish) imply that the pitch corner to corner will be about 10m and I need just over 8m to peg the tent out.  The rest of the tent will then fit into the 7m sides.

Please can somebody tell me if I am completely stupid or if this will work?

Thanks

Kerry

Having drawn it out (yes I'm that sad!) I think you are just about right BUT only without guy ropes - guys will add around a metre each way and I think you've be right against the limit with guys.

Plus you would fill your pitch entirely so where would you sit outside? Where will you park your car? Are you allowed to pitch your tent right up to the edges of the pitch?   If you do this and your neighbours do this it's going to make it very cosy? (they could of course have a separate firebreak between you).

We are booked here for end of June and our booking confirmation states that due to fire regulations, spacing between pitches must be kept free from extra tents or gazebos. Therefore gazebos and other structures are no longer allowed.Although your enquiry is not about gazebos etc if your footprint is to large they may class this the same.Best to give them a phone.Hope you have no probs as its a great site...

Hi,

I have spoken to the site and they are happy as long as it fits in the square, so to speak.  Think I will be getting some rope out and try a 7x7 square around it whilst it is pitched in the garden.  At least I will know for sure.

Thanks

Kerry

We also have a Diablo 900 and last year when we arrived on a site near Newquay we found that the pitches were only 7m x 10m. We put the footprint down first and it soon became apparaent that the only way we could fit it on the pitch was to pitch it on the diagonal- so it can be done but it will be tight.

Success.  After many a 'discussion' with OH and father-in-law, I proved them both wrong; a 8.2m tent will fit into 7m pitch

We managed to pitch our diablo 900 in a 7m square pitch with the entrance at one of the corners.  3 of the Guys will go slightly over the 7m but only by about 5cm, and I think with one more little shuffle we could have got them in too .I have spoken to people at Lincoln Farm, Oxfordhire and they said that is fine as some of the pitches are bigger than that anyway and they still allow room to eat/sit outside and also room for the car.

I am so excited, I cant wait, I am worse than a kid.  I have booked the pool so we know we can have that on our own as well as using the public sesions, all i need to do now is have a look into what we can do in the area with a 2 and a 4 year old and wait for 25th June to come round.

Cotswold Wildlife Park is about 20-30 min drive away in Burford, went there with our 4 and 2 year old on Whit B.H.

Well there in lies a tale....when we booked we were told that they had no tent pitches left so they offered us a caravan pitch which we accepted as we really wanted to stay at this site.We have not been given a pitch number , just a booking reference number ,mmmm....think I will give them a phone. On a previous post I was advised to check on the day as they may well have a grass pitch when we arrive......The obvious issue is that caravan pitches will be hardstanding..not to good for the SIG..anyway we are really looking forward to our stay as we would like to get around the Cotswolds...regards

After a number of phone calls about pitch sizes etc, I rang to pay my deposit and was told no pitches left, despite 2 hours earlier I was told there was plenty.  It turned out she thought I said for the weekend - we are only going Monday - Thursday.  The tent pitches are fully booked for the Satuday and Sunday only so we have got ours that way - they are still quiet during the week.  I did mention to OH about staying a week but he too was worried about our sig so we are playing the safe option.

e-mailed site and reply stated that they did not give pitch numbers as they are busy and might need to move people about prior to arrival..mmm think possibly as the tent pitches are fullly booked and we have been alocated a caravan pitch might make a difference..anyway we are booked and thats all that matters...if we get a grass pitch it will be a bonus.......regards
