Forgive the lack of Jargon, I'm new to this camping lark!

Friend has just bought a Diablo 900 (with porch), currently owns a Raclet 4 berth (2 beds) canvas tent (are they still called ridge tents or are they frame tents now?)

anyway, now they've got the vango, they are considering selling the Raclet.

but...are they better hanging onto it (re the original value & longevity of the tent) or ebaying it - looks like they'll be lucky to get £20 for it? i know many of you here own tents of various sizes/fabrics/purposes

any ideas suggestions

cheers c

I think they should hang onto it, at least untill they try the Diablo out for a few trips. They might find they prefer the Raclet for some sorts of trip, like weekends with poor weather forecasts.

thanks Val - LOL you weren't in norfolk for the BH weekend by chance - i can absolutely guarantee that their tent is indeed watertight!!! Not sure we'll actually all go camping again if the forecast is so grim. but of course we didn't actually think  that the forecast of heavy rain & wind meant that it was actually going to be windy & raining LOL!

cheers

cx

Def hang on to it. As Val says we also have a variety of tents for different occasions. Our big one for our annual break, some for weekends, some for the kids, one for 2 or 3 nights and one for sleepovers in the garden. Our pride and joy - a 30 year old Blacks tent given to us this year that we stayed in before we were married in 1978, never been reproofed but was perfectly OK during the recent monsoons. A very attractive brown and lime green colour. O/h thinks this will become our new weekend tent!! (no velcro in those days) - now I am sounding old.
