Hi, I am just getting into camping and I have got my choice of tents down to the Outdoor Revolution Starcamper 4 or the Coleman Bispace 500. I need a tent that I can stand up in and has a big enough living area for and adult and 2, rarely 3 kids,15, 14 and 10).

I want a decent hydrostatic head as it will be used in Scotland mostly. Both tents have 3000mm. I want bath tub ground sheets and enough room to sleep 3 and on occasions 4 in comfort. The main differences between the 2 tents appears to be that there is more headspace in the Starcamper both in the living area and bedrooms and the Starcamper has a complete SIG whereas the Coleman is just SIG in the bedrooms with a seperate GS for the living area. I prefer the idea of a full SIG. I know that the Coleman bedroom divider can be removed to make a big room but I am not sure if you can do that in the Starcamper.

Can someone advise me re the best quality and the one which would stand up best to good old Scottish weather i.e. wind and rain. I can get the Coleman locally for £127.50 and the Starcamper a bit more on here. Price is not an issue I just want the best quality of the 2. Both tents seem to be around the same size with perhaps a bit more room in the Starcamper due to its shape.

Any advice/opinions will be greatly appreciated including any other tents that I may have overlooked. Cheers.

Hi Andy

I have the Starcamper 4 and I its fab lots of room, good height, windows, choice of doors, really easy to put up and take down ( less than an hour from boot to sitting with a cuppa / glass of vino) and its lovely and light inside because of the colour. The living area is really spacious.

We are only a couple so only have to sleep 2, you would be fine with 3 but might struggle for 4 as no way would 2 doubles or 1 double & 2 singles fit comfortably. Judging by what people on here say though you should always have at least 1 more berth than the amount of people.  The divider does come down.

I love the SIG, whilst others were wet and damp on Bank Holiday our ground was nice and dry although some pesky squirrels still managed to get in and steal my berries through the door flap.

Having said that the Coleman looks great too, you really need to see them both up to help you decide.

Hope this helps and happy camping

I hope it's sunny

Thanks for your reply. I am now the owner of a Starcamper 4 although I have not yet managed to pitch it in the garden due to the rain  I will post some pics and info when I get it up, so to speak. Planning a trip away soon and will post some more pics/info if anyone is interested. Thanks again Andy

Hi guys

I am interested in the Starcamper 4 for the three of us.I am glad to see positive vibes about it cos although I have a super tent I thought starcamper would be fine for 2/3 nights as appears to be easier to put up, outer first I believe. This could possibly sway me now.
