I think the 'Ultradome' was the predecessor to the 'XXL Classic'. It must be at least five years old, because they haven't made them since 2002 (or possibly before). They were a similar size to the 'XXL Classic' which is ideal for a couple and two children (4 berth). Though the main dome has the 'quick erect' (aluminium) pole system, I think the 'hub' (where the main poles spread from) was slightly different to the newer tents. It also had a loop of fibreglass poles (and ring & pin system) on the bedroom pods, instead of the aluminium poles you'll find on the newer tents...

You might find that it's not possible to get 'parts' for the 'Ultradome' now, should you have a breakage, or need replacement 'inner tents'... Also, polyester/nylon tents (I'm pretty sure it was made from a synthetic material rather than poly/cotton) ages and begins to deteriorate after time, so the age of the tent could be important...

They were a nice tent at the time and if this one hasn't been used too often and kept in good condition, might still be worth having. I'd be a bit worried about finding 'spares' though (with luck, there maybe a 'spares set' with the tent)... Andy...

P.S. My brother tells me that there were even older 'Ultradomes' (blue/green colour) which had only fibreglass poles!... The one I have described was the newer maroon/dark green version...

Glad the post was of some help. It was a good job my brother was here at the time, because I didn't know there was an earlier version of the tent!...
