I know it's all personal preference and that but I am torn between the Montana 6, the Indiana and the Vango vail. Can anyone help me out? I've only been camping once in a cheapie eBay tent to see if we liked it and we are hooked hence the need for a 'proper' tent.

There are only 3 of us but like a bit of space to sit in the evening if it is a bit cold, and would prefer a tunnel tent as central domes with outer pods always remind me of spiders (yes I am a bit strange).

It also needs to be quick and easy to put up as I know it will end up being me and my 10year old doing it as my OH loses his temper too quickly when things don't quite work out so it's easier to send him off to the shops while we put the tent up!

If there are any more tents that you think would be suitable but I haven't seen I am open to suggestions.

Cheers you wonderful people!

I initially had thought the vango Vail was the one for the two of us and our two kids (4 & 2).  Didn't get to see one "in the flesh" but went to CE Sports camping show last weekend and as soon as we stepped in the Montana 6 knew that was the one for us!

We def wanted a tunnel tent and I thought I'd like the extra space in the Vango but actually there's a big living area in t he Montana and we ordered the extension to go with it too - we decided against going up to a 3 bedroom tent as we want somehting which is manageable (esp with 2 anklebiters running around as we try to pitch!)

Anyway it seems like a really good quality tent and I know it gets quite highly rated from other users here so maybe worth a look?

We also liked the Outwell Sunvalley 8 had we gone for the 3 bedroom

Also - forgot to mention - we got ours from www.outdoorworld.org.uk  and got a good deal on the carpet for the Montana (£30 instead of £60) when we bought it with then tent.   They also have some free groundsheets on offer with some of the other Outwells!

the indi has good use of space with the flatter front and comes complete with the canopy, we really like ours. The indi has not had the reported faults that some of the other outwells have had.

Another vote for the Indi here - but I think you would struggle to put any of the tents up with just one adult and a 10-year old as they are pretty heavy.  Think you will need to get your OH involved!

We have the monty 6 with canopy/windbreak makes a great shelter, we also have the carpet and agree with mully its lovely and cosy. It has a great big area for living and the rainporch for extra storage, (we put the porta potti in there for the kids). Definately a good choice of tent.

We have the Vail and we love it. That being said, if my OH didn't help with putting it up I don't think me and the kids would have much fun putting it up on our own!!!

Last year when my back was bad, my husband and son who was then 8 put our Montana 6 up together.  My son was absolutely brilliant!  He really rose to the challenge and enjoyed it.

We have the Vail 500 and tried it out a few weekends ago for the first time. It seems fine - we are very pleased with it. When we were deciding we compared the Monty 6 and the Vail 500 at the same tent exhibition but decided to go for the Vail over the Monty. We liked the fact that it had the canopy at the front, the fact the windows are bigger and other details that I can't remember off the top of my head !
