I hope i have posted this in the right place. My son is going to the Reading festival in August and I was wondering which would be the best tent to get him, bearing in mind it will probably not come home in one piece. Oh and it would have to be extra easy to put up.Thanks

and after walking around pilton[glastonbury] "the day after" you would be shocked at the amount of gear that is left behind, and some of it is serious money tents and cooking stuff, one of those times you wish you had a magic trailer with you to load it up anf flog it on ebay or something , all profit !!

How about apop up?
We got one for our sons, its only single skin though but you can't get easier to put up than one of those.
Admittedly, you may be better off with the Asda one if its going to be left behind.
I'm going to the V festival. Unsure what tent to take yet. I've a sunncamp voyager 3man which I love, and I'll be upset if it gets damaged... even though it only cost me £28 (see here)

Something with at least a small 'porch' area will be better that the 'backpacking' tents. If it does rain there's at least somewhere to dump the muddy boots/clothes, and also a bit of shelter for a stove/burner for a cuppa!
Not well up on small tents but there's got to be some festival veterans here who will have all the gen
Something that will keep them dry if/when the Glastonbury monsoon strikes!
A dome shape, as its less likely to collapse than a tunnel during the night when someobody trips over the guys.
And, as Peridot says, a small porch. My son has a Gelert Tornado for a festival tent - sufficiently robust standard but not so expensive that it would be a disaster if it ever got trashed or didn't make it home for any reason.
The Tornado is quite anonymous looking which might be a problem if you've forgotten where it is in a crowd but also means it is less likely to attract the wrong sort of attention. Am I giving myself away as a flappy mum when I say I'd be bothered if I had a daughter who wanted to go away in one of those very girly pink /flowery tents? MT

There a few bargain Gelerts here.. includes delivery price. The anglers one looks good, and the other 3 have 2 porches .. 1 for stashing gear and one to sit in..

Aldi have a 3 man tent in at the moment. We have 3 of these and the kids use them when we go away for weekends. At £25.00 not a disaster if they do not come back in 1 piece.
