.

Hello Everyone this is my first post but have had a look round the boards and this is a great site.

I'm new to camping except when i was very young, and at the point of buying for the 1st time.

We are 2 adults 2 children no dogs, looking to start going on one and two nights to begin with and longer stays when we get used to stuff more.

After looking at loads of tents we love the look of the outwell montana 6 only its a bit more than i wanted to pay after footprint and carpet will be £400. Also needing loads of stuff we no doubt havent thought of yet. So basically can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative to the monty 6, btw we need at least one bedroom u can stand up in and if poss a rain porch.

Thankyou for any help.

I purchased a montana 6 at the weekend after a long debate with myself about how much space a actually needed. We put it up and for the five of us, 2 adults and 3 children 10,8 and 3, and it seemed big enough. If your on a budget do you really need a carpet and footprint?  Also i bought the canopy to go with it, as i am hoping this will give cover for cooking in the rain. It all cost £404 which was the rrp.

The outwell indiana 6 2007 only cost me £275 with a few things thrown in, it is very similar to the montana but with the canopy already attached.....

sorry i cant offer an alternative to the montana 6 however i'm sure someone will be along to help soon.  We bought a really cheap tent last year to see if we still enjoyed it (last time we went was 13yrs ago) and also to see if our 6yr old liked it.  We discovered that we did and therefore bought a more expensive tent this year.  We tested it out a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed.  May be not the best idea but it certainly worked for us.

Thats what i did i bought a cheap one from decathlon which cost about £90, which was a 4 birth and then bought a bigger more expensive one this year. I thought this was a good idea because we had never been and didnt know whether we'd like it or not.

I second the indi, only £269, loads of space and canopy included, does not have sloping front so uses space well, plenty of space, nice and light, lots of windows.
