As some on here will know , i am new to all this but was having a look at some tents this morning at that getoutdoors place and could not understand why all the khyam tents were so expensive ! even the ones that did not look anything special ! are they made of superior materials or something ? anyone know.

I dont find Khyam any more expensive than other reputable tent manufacturers. I have had 2 and find them well made and excellent value. The models that are rapidex are maybe a bit pricier but then you are paying for the technology.
We had a Khyam Rigidome XL Classic and it was fab...just out grew it.
When a crowd of you go camping, they are still getting their tent out of the bag and arguing the toss....
You have pitched yours and are cracking open a beer...feeling sorry or the rest!!
I really enjoyed the Khyam, but have found, more recently, that other manufacturers tents are of a more appealing design. I personally don't think that Khyam have moved forward as much as some others with tent features, which is why we have opted for a different brand, which may take much longer to pitch.....but is of a more preferable design.
I have a Khyam Santiago 4 berth(see picture below), and I don't think it was too expensive at £110 plus £10 p&p. It's a pole and sleeve rather than a QE tent, but I can get it erected in about 10 minutes plus another thirty for pegging out (if you don't count my rest stops). It has 5000mm HH and so far has proved very stable and waterproof.

we have recently purchased a Khyam Excelsior XXL and it is a brilliant tent. Easy to erect and easy to take down. It has made camping so much easier. We didn't think it was expensive compared to other tents that we looked at. It was the rapidex system that did it for us.
On our second, outgrew first. They are good quality...everything works well. If you shop around online you can find good prices. Try OutdoorMegastore. Very good service.
