What a clever and witty response to my last post!
I constantly strive to respond as clearly and articulately as possible but I've obviously got some way to go to reach your level of expertise!

Here we go again!
I cannot understand why all the positive reports about Rage/Leben/Stormproof tents are ignored yet all the negative ones are magnified beyond all proportion.
I have read countless reports now of the sheer rubbish produced from the branded names yet nobody says I'll never buy an Outwell or Vango etc.
I for one have had no problem with my tent and see no reason why I should pay more when Tentastic can supply and meet all my requirements at a fraction of the cost of others
I totally agree and I often wonder if it's the Skoda syndrome 'it's no good good if it's got that badge on it' or is it designer labelling that counts??. My two tents do the job they were bought for why should I pay through the nose for a designer tent for using at weekends - no I don't buy designer clothes unless they are vastlt price reduced in a sale but even then it's not for for the snob value

beechy, il be honest, i dont rate them. I bought one to have a look at and dont think they are good quality. I sold it to a friend who was looking for a cheap pup tent for the kids. It wasnt as bad as some have found theirs, ie no rips but it leaked and i sealed all the seams for them before use. I dont think it will stand up to harsh weather tho.
I dont like to think im a snob, i buy Outwell because i have had no trouble with mine and i like the designs. However i also like many of the Eurohikes (another budget make) and wouldnt hesitate to buy one. I think everyone should buy what makes them happy, but if someone comes on asking for an opinion i give my honest one, and that is, after seeing the one i bought that the materials are not good.
Got to say this year there are some Outwells i wouldnt reccomend either, they seriously need to get some of their quality control issues sorted out.

Lorrnev, at least you bought one and made your decision & comments from the facts presented by the tent you received.
My gripe is with those who persistently sl*g these tents off and have probably never seen one pitched let alone closely examined one. I still think as I said earlier with a lot of commentators it's the 'Skoda Syndrome' - wrong badge = no good.
I am on a low budget and I would be the first to complain vehemently against poor quality, poor service etc. I couldn't afford an Outwell, Vango or one of the so called better makes this year and I wanted to camp this year not wait until next year.

Hi all,
Just to let you know we have just got back from our week away and whilst we were away, I saw several Rage tents that seemed to be holding up perfectly and looked nice too.

My first post. I've just joined the site, looking for info and advice about tents having just had a disasterous weekend in my brand new Rage Narvik. The tent is/was a pile of poo! The 'rigid' steel poles buckled, the 'flexible' poles splintered and the whole tent completely collapsed. All this in windspeeds of less than 18k. Thank God we weren't in it at the time or we could have been looking at serious injury. Now all we have to do is figure out how to get some form of redress from the seller (via Ebay).
I assume your seller was Tentastic? Contact them immediately and explain your problem and tell them you want a full refund. They can, when pushed, be quite good at customer service, they've had loads of practice after all. If they refuse you could drop in a few phrases like "not fit for purpose" and "we'll see what trading standards think" Try being nice first, though...
Good luck, and welcome to the forum. Sorry your first experience has been a bad one but once you get your money back (and you will) post your needs and budget here and we will do our best to help.

How did you guess it was Tentastic?
About to phone them now I expect it to be interesting!
Thanks for your support, I'll be back with further info and questions about what sort of outfit we should be looking at for a family tent.

Your tent was not fit for purpose, end of story, so trading standards should be very helpful. Good luck.

I own a Rage Narvik 700dlx and having used the tent twice have left a review. I feel well qualified to make my comments...
When something bought is working well, there are no complaints and predictably all is well. The first time of using this tent I was impressed with the space and shape. It was cheep and during the mild easy weather that was enjoyed I felt like a king amongst the many smaller tent users. However the tent just wasn't up to proper weather that is typical of our summers. Setting up requires an army to minimise the stress on the weak poles. As mentioned in the posted review the tent took a battering during the second trip and came second to the wind and rain. Don't get me wrong, in calm weather the tent was brilliant and if that was to be expected and predicted in future trips I would be singing it's praises. On packing down the seams ripped in two places and Hampshire was witness to one of the biggest kites made.
I tried to gain redress and gave up as the tent was a year old and frankly not worth the hassle for the bargain that it was purchased for. The story doesn't end there though...
On using this site, I looked for a tent that had more reviews than anything else and still widely available. Three weeks after going 'kiting' I set off to the south coast with a Montana 6. The weather was wet, wet, wet but it held up and stood to the wind. I am now looking forward to more trips next year.
I hope that any users of the Narvik 700dlx pick their trip with the weather in mind and sincerely wish them the best. It was a learning curve for me and my family but I will not be recommending Tentastic despite the apparent good value. The old tent is currently keeping my loft company.

Personally, I like the Rage tents and have never had a problem with them but that's probably because I accept ''you get what you pay for'. Our last one was the Bodo 3 and we just wanted it as a quick pitch weekend tent for scruffing about in- loved it! If I'd wanted an amazing tent, I would have paid out for one, as I did in th end.
However, my experience of Tentastic has not been the best. I've actually had better customer service from Vango which says a lot :-(
