Ok, only just had the first chance to pitch the Bear Lake 4 after we'b bought it in April.
Good Points
Far easier to pitch than what I'd imagined for such a heavy a tent. Took about 40 mins for a first pitch to errect it without fully pegging out. I'd say 45 for experienced campers to do the whole thing after becoming familiar with it.
No problems with the dreaded door zips as previously experienced on these boards.
Climate control is fantastic! Pitched warm .. inner was cool. Evening came and the temperature dropped .. tent temp didn't change.
Attention to detail inside for little things like tent tidys and EHU roof cable tidys is great!
Bad Points
One of the vertical stabiliser poles was so tight to put together that its impossible to pull apart even though they both still fit in the bag. Tried filing loose burrs and WD40 before the poles went together.
Nasty scag on the pollycotton flysheet. About two inches of single thread hanging down on the bedroom area side with a small laddering effect on the fly where there's a noticeable patch on the outside and inner although no hole. will this affect waterproofing? Hmmm ..
So, after spending £500 on a new tent do you think I should go back to the retailer and ask for a replacement or learn to live with it.
Would loathe to get a refund as apart from the above problems I would recommend the tent to anyone looking to upgrade from a less expensive one.
