Angie, Hi & welcome to UKCS , this site is full of usefull information, funnies and general chat.

Try running a search (go to message boards, then click yellow search button and enter details of what you want to search)  The Montana (also known as the Monty) tent has loads of posts here - both good and bad but all worth considering.

I think the Montana that kamakazekay is referring to is the Outwell one and not ridgeline.    Still a search for ridgeline may help.

A synthetic tent would be stifling to stay IMO .. is that one a canvas tent ?    On the other hand an 8 berth canvas tent would be humongous in weight.  Thing is with the heat .. you poibably need shade more than indoor living space so a small frame tent with a nice big sun canopy might be better.   Whats your budget ?

from one novice to another. I purchased my montana 8 from ridgeline last week and have just spent our first weekend camping. The tent is FAB!  it is quite heavy but comes in a handy holdall which two people can carry.  We erected the outer tent in 30mins!!! There is a double inner tent at the back which fits our queen size airbed and folding wardrobe.  There are two inner tents which fit a double air matress. We only used one and made use of the extra space as our kitchen.  We would normally have the kitchen outside but the weather was terrible.  It stayed completely dry. My hubby didn't fit the ground sheet properly though and the rain fell into it leaving us with a wee puddle in the morning!  Make sure the outer tent hangs over the bathtub ground sheet.  I would recommend a tent carpet for the living area because all the rustling got on my nerves.  The Kylam 8 tent is the same outlay and carpet is advertised on outdoor megastore for 34 pound so that is my next buy.  The tent is warm when the sun shines (which wasn't often) so I would advise a fan or two.  I was thinking that I could put some kind of black ground sheet over the top of the tent when it was really hot.  We had no condensation.  For Greece I would recommend a fly killer, I have seen them for around a tenner. They hang on the centre of the tent. hope this has been helpfull. Anything else just ask, regards caroline

For a hot climate I would also avoid a synthetic tent and go for canvas. IMO a plastic tent would be unbearable and the sun damage may well mean it won't last the tree months that you need it.

Do you need to sleep 8 people?
