Hello There

We are going to give camping a try and wondered if anyone can recommend a good starter tent for a family.

We would like one that is easy to put up and good quality so it doesn't leak etc and has bedroom and living space.

don't want to spend too much incase we don't like it.

Thanks

Hi,And welcome to the site. I think the khyam ontario 6 is a great tent for starters. You can pick it up for less than 160 in some stores......What is your budget?

You might want to be a bit more specific - how many people etc.  However the best value tents on the internet in my opinion are the wynnster pheonix (last years model) here:

You may not like the style, size, colour etc. but I am convinced they represent the best value tents at the moment, so much so I have bought one myself.  I just wish I could put it up (garden not big enough). For £95 or £115 I don't think you will find better.

We were in the same position last year and our Vango venture 500 has been a little treasure. I think they call it something else in some other stores. It's a great starter tent. Sleeps 5, plenty of bedroom space and plenty of living space, enough for table & chairs and toys.

It's so easy to put up, we can put it up in 15mins(inc. pegging). My kids are little so i like the fact I can have the bedroom as one large room, or, you can divide it up if you like.

We paid £84 for ours and I've seen it for £85-£90 on the net. It leaves plenty of budget for the other essentials!

I've got the Pegasus and it is a really lovely tent.   It is really light inside and is really versatile.  I'd definitely recommend it.

Just had a look at thw Wynnster Pegasus 6 and I'm tempted myself! Especially the deal on the link above. It's around £200-250 on every other website I've had a look at.

I am looking for a larger tent myself at the minute and for that price, well, you can't do better than that can you?
