We're also thinking of buying a Bear Lake 6 but have three children and want to know if it will be big enough.  Our current tent a Cabanon is too large and the Bear Lake appears to fit the bill.  Any thoughts?

We have looked long and hard at the BL 6 and if you had the smaller room and the kids got the bigger then may be ok. The smaller room is just big enough to get a double airbed in with 10cm at the side.

You get plenty of living space though.

I think it may be small for you though- how old are the kids?

As already posted we have the BL6  and 3 children. The 6 is big enough. We use the 2 man space and the larger bed space can fit a coleman double and single bed in when placed horizontally. Also, when boy get's bigger we thought he could use single bed in living area at night and simply throw back in be area in morning. Yes, we could of had the Norfolk lake, but didn't like layout as much and thought it was too big for some campsites that woulc charge us for 2 pitches.

Hi and thanks to everyone for the advice on th BL 6.  Our children are 9, 7 & 5 so this tent would seem to fit the bill.

Mark

I wonder why you think the aruba is too big.  It is v. similar size to the BL6. aruba  420x550,    BL6 420x500 , but 420x650 if you include porch dimensions.  I have been considering both of them, same family as you, and will probably go for BL6 as cheaper, includes groundsheet, and pack size is a good bit smaller from what I can tell.  Also hoping you don't have to erect it to dry (I'm currently asking this Q on another thread).

Have seen both the Bear Lake 6 and 4 erected, the 4 is a lot smaller than the 6 and seems a lot darker. With three kids think the Bear Lake  4 would be a little to small

In answer to Happycamper36 the reason we are moving away from our Aruba is purley due to it's packed size.  The BL6 certainly packs down more!  Cheers Mark
