We bought a £50 tent last year to see if we liked the great outdoors or not before commiting to a more expensive tent.

We love camping and are now looking at an upgrade. Thinking about getting a Khyam freelander after we tried one out in a camping shop. Bedroom seems nice and cosy and dark- living area is a good size for cooking/kit etc. Looks very storm proof!

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these tents?

Usually just 2 of us camping and dogs and we don't mind the groundsheet being separate as the tent has a skirt on it!

I have one (see my pics) and I love it.

Suprisingly roomy for a small pack size, a doddle to put up, loads of headroom in the living area and the bag is plenty big enough to pack the tent away again when you are done.

It has withstood howlilng winds and rain. I bought the footprint groundsheet for mine, I take it if the forecast is bad, otherwise I don't bother. I used to have the McKinley and once I accidentaly broke a foot off it (my fault) I contacted Kyham and they sent me a replacement foot free of charge along with some extra bits and peices so the customer services are top too.

My best small tent so far. I totally recommend it.

Have been over the moon with our Freelander.

As novice campers, we find it really easy to erect. (Kettle brewing within 1/2 hour) and even easier to pack away. We only have a small car (Fiesta) so the packed size of the Freelander is ideal. Our 2 trips, so far have been in wet and very wet conditions and the tent has kept us dry.

One thing to be aware of is, that if the tent gets wet then you need somewhere at home or at a neighbours to erect it to dry out. The flexi system isn't so easy to lay out and dry as poles are built in.

Quality is really good and we think that it is a great tent.

If mine has been packed soaking I loosely plonk it in the bath making sure I move it around every so often.

Once it's just damp I semi put it up in either the spare bedroom (on the bed lol) or in the lounge. It's then bone dry in less than an hour.
